CANTON, Ohio -
A northeast Ohio man caught on video apparently making fun of a young girl with cerebral palsy has been sentenced to a month in jail.
William Bailey, 43, was sentenced to the maximum sentence after pleading no contest Tuesday to reduced misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated menacing, court officials said.
Bailey was caught on cellphone video at a school bus stop making fun of how the 10-year-old disabled girl walks. The video was then widely disseminated on the Internet and local TV news, the (Canton) Repository reported

He’s a disgusting crud, but you can’t throw people in jail for that reason alone. Making fun of a crippled child is about as low as it gets, but it still does not qualify for getting thrown in the slammer.
The problem is that if we are now jailing people for being major league a-holes, then how many Freepers are headed to the Big House? :)
The sad part is how many will agree with this sentence. People don’t understand where this leads.Next think you know people are getting jail time for mean looks.
If it had been my daughter, or son for that matter with cp,being arrested would have ben the least of his worries. I would have did my best to put him in the hospital foe an exteneded stay.

“...if someone were stupid enough to do this 50 years ago theyd get their butt kicked.”
Fifty years ago, this child might well have been locked up in an institution. Things have changed, thank G-d.
I saw this video on Fox this morning. It was despicable. There is such a thing as mental abuse and mental assault and this was damn sure it. I would have broken his kneecaps and he would have walked funny for the rest of his life.
now yer a stalker
I’m already married
Your response is spot on.
WELL SAID!! Applicable in so many other arenas of bad behaviour as well. To examine the other side of the coin.... “we” have allowed seemingly normal acts to be CRIMINALIZED to the extent that if by-standers DO act...they are usually liable, and sued, and end up the loosers. So, who can blame them for NOT stepping in? I agree with you 100%, but that’s how a lot of people think, and I can’t blame them.
Sounds like judicial Calvin Ball.
However, I would sentence the guy to be handcuffed and leg-shackeled, in a soundproof and locked room, for 59 minutes and 59 seconds.
With the girl's dad, a blowtorch, and a pair of pliers.
Cruel? Yes. Criminal? No.
This jerk should have been taught some manners the old-fashioned way: a sound thumping by a citizen with some sense of decency.
He’s a douche-bag all right, but deserve jail time. Hell, no. He should be ridiculed for his insensitivity. Of course, you can see where this will go; this is something the left will love to utilize. Take for example Susan Rice. That could be constituted as “mocking” or hate speech or what have you, and BOOM—off to jail. It will become a way to silence critics.
Thanks for passing the 100’s of 1000’s of laws we have to obey and be ground under daily.
Won’t you come home, Bill Bailey?
I agree with those who say no jail, it should not be a crime to be an a-hole, and if it becomes one, then how come the Vice President is a free man?
It will become a way to silence critics.
Exactly,It has roots in Alinsky type tactics and some let their feelings fog their vision of freedom.
If that isn’t PC what is?
So sorry you can’t pick on 10 yr old disabled children. I’m sure that hurts your feelings.
“It will become a way to silence critics.”
There are a million ways they can silence critics already. Ever heard of the IRS? Hate cries?
But you’d prefer we tolerate child abuse.
With this one sentence you got right to the root of the judge's actions and its ultimate multipication effects.
Anything else is beanbag.
It's Alinsky and anti-Constitutional all the way.
