Chock Full of Nuts also comes in metal cans. I also believe that H E B house brand is still packaged that way.
One problem: the one-pound coffee can is now 13 ounces.
I am north of Houston and didn't leave and Ike was still bad when it got here, power went out immediately. Don't expect anything to work right when a hurricane comes through. Our large hospital's generator didn't come on so they had no power. Critical patients were taken to San Antonio, 5 hours away.
The rest of the patients were stuck in dark, hot rooms. No operations could be done if someone had appeared with injury requiring surgery. This was a case of you treat yourself if you get hurt or sick. Your medical preps were important at that time. Also, you couldn't call 911 unless you had a land line phone - old time phone that plugs directly into the wall. I have one for that purpose so I could call out and get phone calls. My son in England called me to be sure I was okay and I got that call.
Since the hospital couldn't function, I don't know if an ambulance would even have shown up in that situation.
If something bad can happen, it probably will during an emergency. One should be prepared to live independently including medical care until the emergency is over.

HEB is five blocks from my house. Thanks.
I lived in Tomball for about a year and was in Houston for a new job that was delayed for about a week because of Ike. The house brand groceries at Randall’s (Lucerne) are Safeway’s house brand.
9 Reasons a Large Burlap Bag Should be in Your Survival Kit

I've read several books about survival at sea. It's hard to imagine that there is much of anything that should be discarded from a lifeboat. You might not see a need for a small vial of smallpox virus, but the vial itself might become useful.
Texas’ HEB still makes their Hill Country Fare brand coffee in metal cans.

I have several of those metal cookie containers. They have pretty pictures on them and I just can't throw them away. I mainly have three family members who visit me and they have been helping me get rid of stuff I don't need anymore and I think they believe I am a little nuts for hanging onto these empty, pretty, metal cookie containers. None of them store anything, so they don't get it. If they had their way, they would throw away every prep I have, including the long term food, just to create blank space. They have no idea what is in those #10 cans of long term food that is under beds.
Back in an earlier time, when the Christmas metal cans with popcorn came out, they were really big cans then and I have two of those filled with zillions of boxes of strike anywhere matches. That is when you could buy strike anywhere at grocery stores. That was before the government didn't trust us with strike anywhere matches.

This Thanksgiving, the SIL wound up with a Judge pistol (shoots .45 and .410). I've got a piece of a box of .410 that I haven't had a shotgun for in 10 years.
Yep. He got that ammo.

Actually, I'm saving them up to make a nice 3 piece suit.

One time when the husband and wife were here, they were leaving and he wanted to take a half bottle of wine with him. He said, “If I had a cork..” I said, “I have bottle corks.” He said, “Of course you do - I should have known”. That was a dig because I prep. I opened a drawer and gave him a cork. I keep wine bottle corks. What is wrong with that? I had what he needed so he needs to get off my back for saving useful stuff.

Ha Ha. That reminds me, my Granny used to make me dresses out of flour sacks, which used to have all sorts of designs on them. The plain ones she used to make T shirts and Slips.

My mother made me dresses out of those flour sacks with designs on them. She made all my clothes until I went to college and that was the first time they bought me ready-made clothes.
“I keep real wine bottle corks...”
Yes, I keep the real cork ones.
