Sandy Island was nowhere to be found when Australian scientists reached the South Pacific location where it appeared on Google Earth, nautical charts and world maps. "It raises all kinds of conspiracy theories," expedition member Steven Micklethwaite said, adding that the CIA is among the sources of the world coastline database. "It reminded me of the hypernatural island in the "Lost" TV series." The phantom Manhattan-size island in the Coral Sea was shown as Sandy Island on Google Earth, sized about 15 miles by three miles on Google Maps, and halfway between Australia and the French New Caledonia.

Google Maps coordinates (in decimal, not DD.MM.SS) are -19.213264,159.932785. (Negative latitude indicates south of the equator.)
With a latatude of (positive) 4.815, your coordinates aren’t even south of the equator.

Maybe that island was added by map-makers as copy-protection. You add a fake island, and if anyone else has that island on their map then you sue them. That's exactly why it's there. Reference books and encyclopedias have entries on imaginary people and places for the same reason.

If anyone dies trying to make landfall on that island, there will be no lawsuit unless the dead guy leaves a diary stating that intention and the whole works is found later. :’)

The article reports the island location is now deep ocean, as in 4,620 ft deep.
Maybe this explains why Hillary went to the Cook Islands in the middle of the DNC. New Zealand volcano on the verge of a major eruption????

It’s the island that Capt. Haddock knows is not real, and is therefore the clue he needs to find Red Rackham’s Treasure.

GADZOOKS!!! Almost exactly between the Haitian epicenter and a recent earthquake swarm off of Puerto Rico along the southern boundary of the BERMUDA TRIANGLE!!!, which just happens to be on the exact opposite side of the planet longitudinally and mirrored from the equator latitudinally.
Where has Mystery Island gone????
