My two most disliked radio voices: #2: Doc Thompson; #1: Mark Belling.
They sound somewhat alike, but Mark Belling more so.
There's his particularly irritating voice coupled with his habit of parsing the words in every sentence with an obsessive attention to explaining minor details. There's a slang expression for this which I don't care to use here.
The stunningly-enormous amount of trivia on any and every subject stored in his brain is regularly and numbingly inflicted upon the listener until three hours of this and his high-pitched, drama-queen voice when excited often becomes a horrifying rather than edifying experience.
At least he's pretty conservative for a guy from New York city.
On the same station years ago we had the memorable "Lionel" who was also vocally irritating....and who was a left-winger later moving on to the late, liberal radio network, "Air America".....he's now irritating the folks in NYC.
Leni
This is tough.
Sean Hannity constantly yelling over his guests “Tell me I’m right! Tell me I’m right! Tell me how cute I am after I declare America dead I will tell you about how the wife and I had no blinds on our windows until Budget Blinds became my sponsor......”
Ugh! But the absolute WORST is Schnitt. For show prep, he goes down each column of the Drudge Report and declares that he broke each and every story on his show first before any other talk host.
He laughs at his own lame jokes. And they aren't funny.
!
The left loves gravelly voiced women, it tones down the whine.
I tend to enjoy listening to local college radio, we have quite a few stations locally, the music is usually good and fairly unusual. But, leading up to the election it seems they all started airing this crone at 5:00 PM, so I had to change my listening habits for the drive home.
It’s truly grating to listen to this woman. She’ll never be able to pull off the hypnotic “you are getting sleeeee-pyyy” dulcet tones of your typical NPR news reader.
I was arrested with Joan Andrews!
What Joan Andrews was doing was historic. It was the right way to confront the evil of abortion. The country chose to die rather than join her. By that I mean that the Catholic bishops and the “pro-lifers” in Congress joined forces to crush the Rescue Movement. They brought us what we have now: A pro-abortion regime that will bring us collapse, poverty, chaos.
For a while there, Walter Williams was pretty bad, but I HAD to listen to him because the guy was so sharp on economics and made it understandable. He use to cough a lot, but has dramatically improved.
annoying voices:
—Barack Obama...yikes 4 more years of hearing sound clips from him
—incoming MA US Sen Liz Warren...she’s here till early 2019
at least. Also to be heard a lot on news-talk shows.
—WRKO Boston fill in host Michele McPhee, aka McScreamer
—Col David Hunt, whom you may know from his appearances on O’Reilly. Yes I thank him for his service and I know his raspy voice may be part of an injury, true. Still not fond of it (fill ins for Howie Carr, New England)
—any of a variety of libtalkers; thankfully they aren’t on in Boston anymore...or Portland or Seattle where stations owners are switching the stations to sports
I can't stand that he keeps repeating the same 30 things over and over. And he never lets the libtards talk and then defeat their points, he either talks over them or mutes them and hangs up. If he would let them go they would show just how ignorant liberalism is.
He's on opp. Rush on Boston's WTKK...probably because the woman who got him started in Philly became the prog dir on WTKK...not into him
Also WTKK has a guy named Joe Ligotti, "The guy from Boston", whose voice sounds like he gargles with lye. There are some profane rants he did posted on youtube.
A station up here plays him Sunday nights. I agree. Just dreadful.
Astonishing how many times in a segment he says “ya know”.
I bet Rush in 25 years had never once filled in a sentence with “ya know”. I almost think he does it on purpose, as an affectation.
Yeah, but Rush has his own idiosyncrasies. His “By The Way”s drive me nuts. It’s like his mind is racing a thousand miles an hour with thoughts popping in and out that he can’t stay on the subject without a half-dozen asides before he completes his initial point. Rush should ban “by the way” from his vocabulary. Slow down, man, you’ve got three hours, it’s not like TV where you have to be done in five minutes to get the next advertisement started.
Hannity?
In the very near future ALL these voices will never be heard again.
