I was coming back from Walmart where there are a bunch of Black Friday items. As I drove home I saw that the golf course was full of floggers with White Balls! It got me to thinkin' bout racial terms

Not racist, it refers to this being the day that will determine whether most stores end the year with a profit, or “in the black”.

Black Friday is a stupid term, not a racist one. What’s so black about it? Anyone who doesn’t want to fight the crowds is free to stay home. It makes a ton of money for the stores. Most husbands get a nice quiet day without the wife (ducking for cover!).

We should call it Awesome Friday!

Now, if we were forced to go shopping on this day, we’d need to call it “The Red Hour” (Star Trek reference...if you don’t get it, I can’t explain it to you.)

Of course it is, and to make it perfectly clear, we should use the obviously proper terminology:

Negro Friday

Accountants would be allowed to use entirely lower case letters.

2. Derogatory Yiddish slang for black person, equivalent to the N-word.

I for one am sick of the tired claim that things with the word "black" in them are all negative, and therefore racist, while all things with the term "white" in them are universially positive, and therefore equally racist.

Just a few moments thought produces these counter examples:

A profitable business is "In the Black" (and the source of the "Black Friday" name)

A Soiree of the very highest class is "A Black Tie Affair"

A clear and unmistakable rule or fact is said to be "Black Letter", as "It's Black Letter Law..."

To cover up a shameful act in a sleazy way is to "White wash the affair"

A useless and unwanted item is a "White Elephant"

The universal symbol of surrender is a "White Flag"

I am sure others here can supply additional examples.
