Tim Tebow only played three snaps on offense against the Rams yesterday.
Coincidentally or not, the Jets won 27-13 and Mark Sanchez had his best game since Week 1.
At this point it's crystal clear that the Tebow takeover that everyone assumed would happen when the Jets traded for him just isn't going to happen.
If there was ever a time to turn to Tebow, it was this week.
The Jets were desperate 3-6 after two-straight 20-point losses. And Mark Sanchez was in a certifiable tailspin, sitting in the bottom five in the league in passer rating and completion percentage.
Everything pointed to them using Tebow more yesterday. But instead they used him less, and it actually worked. The Jets have said all along that Tebow is nothing more than a back-up, but only now is it clear that they meant it. We should have realized sooner that Tebow was never going to be a consequential part of this offense like when he stayed on the sidelines while Sanchez threw for just 103 yards in a 34-0 blowout against the 49ers, or when the top-secret wildcat offense that the Jets ran with him turned out to be a totally vanilla scheme that required no real thought or practice.
But despite all that there has always been the suspicion that Tebow's time was coming, or else why would they have traded for him at all?

I am sure Tim will survive.
Dude needs to change his title to “tight end” of “flanker-back”
Fat-finger: tight end OR flanker-back
I’ve been watching football for all of my 43 years. I am well aware of the saying “there is no one in town more popular than the backup QB” but this is ridiculous. Tebow is a great kid but he’s a terrible QB. The idea that he should get any coverage at all is more personality-based than it is football-skills based.
Also - Sanchez had plenty of crappy games between week 1 and now that featured even less involvement from Tebow. Sanchez’s problems don’t come from Tebow taking PT away. They come from him being awful too (and a bad O-Line...bad receivers etc...)
“hes a terrible QB”
I’d like to preface my next comment by stating I am NOT really a Tebow fan or a gator fan either but he did get the Bronco’s to the playoffs last year so I’m a little puzzled by your “terrible QB” comment.
Plus a horrible coach..
So terrible that he took over a loosing team and took them to the playoffs.
Just another hyped-up personality in our media driven culture bites the dust. Not surprised...
People are slippin'.
I remember when Elway started for Broncos. Had a terrible time, threw too many interceptions, everyone complaining. So, they bring in special coaches to help him, and work with him, and it did indeed help him. He developed, well, you know. However Tebow, is not given that option, he is supposed to be at pro NFL level QB from day one.
Stats from 1st 7 games; Elway vs Tebow
Record: Elway 2-5 Tebow 4-3
Completion % : Elway 44% Tebow 47%
Passing Yards: Elway 757 Tebow 1,177
TD/INT: Elway 1-9 Tebow 10-4
QB Rating: Elway 37.2 Tebow 78.7
IMHO
For a Christian, Tebow decided to go into the crotch of the Obamanation and see how it works out.
Tebow didn’t really get the Broncos to the playoffs last season. Their defense shaved 15 points off their per game average, that kind of change will allow a team to make the playoffs even when their QB does things like go 2 for 8. Really his stats are kind of frightening:

He is definitely a terrible QB.
IMHO, they are running him out due to his beliefs. Big mistake to trade him away from the Broncos. Manning could have mentored him and Manning is at a disadvantage due to his age.
Totally agree!
Great college QB's don't always translate to the pros (Andre Ware, Joey Harrington), and some of the "athletic" QB's take a long time to make it. Randall Cunningham, Rich Gannon, Steve Young, and John Elway had their best seasons well into their 30's.
