I'm curious, among our crowd here, if anyone out there ever engaged in the sort of exhibitionistic shenanigans we keep reading about in the endless stream of scandals in recent years. The appeal of doing so eludes me, and I'd like to understand this growing phenomenon better.
Have you ever posted or sent naked or bare-chested photos of yourself to a member of the opposite sex to impress them?
Did you think it would impress them? Did it?
If unsolicited, did you assume these postings or emails would be well received? Were they?
Variations on this theme are also welcome.
I have had women send me pictures of themselves and yes I have enjoyed them.
No! I go for a minimal foot print on the web. Besides, the only I can hope to impress a woman with a photo of me, is if she is blind. :-(

Would never have dreamed of doing such a thing, even now as a married man.
These kids today that seem to do this as just as a everyday thing are going to be in a world of hurt if they ever try to run for office or run a major business.
If a female acquaintance of mine (in whom I've always been interested), sends me a G-rated photo of herself out of the blue, is she interested?
No and never will. My time spent on the internet is spent trying to keep up with the news, researching how to fix stuff and buying stuff. Being at the half century mark may have something to do with my internet use. Never did the myspace, facebook stuff, or joined any picture sharing sites, I seek no attention.
Is her husband and kids in it? Is her wedding ring prominently displayed?
Does the picture have any other quality about it which might explain her sending it to you, such as it's humorous?
Depends, was she posing with a dead deer or a 5 lb smallmouth?
Is she your cousin?
Is there any guy in the picture with her? And there a guy’s arm or hand in the picture with her, but the guy’s been removed?
As Sigmund said, Sometimes a lamp is just a lamp.
My initial thought was that you wanted to discuss vanities as a form of electronic exhibitionism.
Kids today in large numbers aren’t getting driver licenses.
In my day, the car was the key to privacy with the opposite sex.
Now I guess kids just use smartphones to send pics of their junk to each other.
“If a female acquaintance of mine (in whom I’ve always been interested), sends me a G-rated photo of herself out of the blue, is she interested?”
A lot of women are plain old vain, like a picture of themselves, and send it out because they are pleased with it. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
Thought process: “Oh! I look so good in this! I am going to send it out to people so they can think I’m pretty, too!”
Generally to find out if a woman is interested in you, you have to ask her out.
“...a world of hurt if they ever try to run for office...”
Well it might solve the name recognition problem and the “bad publicity” aspects might be somewhat balanced if the images are attractive.
Would Sarah or Todd Palin be hurt in seeking office if candid nude sunbathing pics were published? There would probably be damage if they took initiative in circulating them but probably not if they were just paparazzi shots.
i was talking to my kids last night about this very thing and said, anyone who submits to naked pix of themselves must assume that the people they LEAST want to see them, will end up seeing them. So assume such a photo will end up in the inbox of your parents, your kids, your PASTOR, your inlaws etc.
The reality stars who are famous for doing nothing and sometimes they become famous BECAUSE of a salacious video.
Those who follow and admire these people want to emulate these reality stars and some even hope that the same routine could possibly bring them fame, too.
I think all these reality shows are nothing but living, evolving infomercials.
We are living Idiocracy.
Yes, yes and yes.......However, I didn't really send them, I passed them out to all the ladies playing bingo at the local community senior center. That was a year ago and I'm still getting phone calls.......
