Even, or maybe especially, here in Texas.
If it made any sense at all I would follow what my bumper sticker says. But we cannot separate from The Union. Our country is at risk and I say we have to stay and fight.
"The Federal Government, while but partially under the control of these our unnatural and sectional enemies, has for years almost entirely failed to protect the lives and property of the people of Texas against the Indian savages on our border, and more recently against the murderous forays of banditti from the neighboring territory of Mexico; and when our State government has expended large amounts for such purpose, the Federal Government has refused reimbursement therefor, thus rendering our condition more insecure and harrassing than it was during the existence of the Republic of Texas." -- Texas Declaration of Causes, Feb.2, 1861
WTC,
Sometimes, in spite trying everything, despite giving your treasure, your honor, or even your very life, you can’t have it all.
But having Texas is better anyway.
We are Americans, but are they? Perhaps it would be better for America to separate for a time, until they are ready to accept the rule of law.
Davis was a Democrat. Were any of the governments of the States that seceded not Democrat?
It could be argued that the Democrats have been working for the dissolution of the United States for over 150 years. They couldn’t pull it off by secession, so they undertook doing it by undermining it from the inside.
“I am an individual not part of a collective.”
That can be read to mean you are unwilling to work collectively with other individuals. I did not write “collective”, a Marxist term. I wrote “collectively”, “adv. In a mass, or body; in a collected state; in the aggregate; unitedly; in a state of combination; as the citizens of a state collectively considered” (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).
Another problem is that we keep letting the leftists steal the language.
The American People existed before the United States and U.S. Constitution. They created the U.S. and the Constitution.
To secede from the Union in no way implies that one is less “American.” The Union has become a Marxist empire, and is an alien, enemy conspiracy against the American People.
The First Continental Congress couldn’t agree on anything, AND you could try to ‘tax’ States that seceded, but it wouldn’t work.
Stop and think about what you said.
Dang, I was kidding. Sorta.
I’ve had a Secede bumper sticker since before it was cool:
