Hi FReepers...
For the last year, my wife and I have been giving serious consideration to moving our family out west.
We are born and raised New Englanders. We're a homeschooling family that enjoys outdoor mountain activities and also the arts and sciences.
We are looking for a conservative area [low taxes, less government, personal freedom, family friendly] and were wondering if anyone out there might have some recommendations. I have focused on Idaho and Montana, but am receptive to other suggestions.
I plan on making a trip out early next year to investigate... thanks in advance to all who reply!
The same Montana that keeps electing Democrat Senators?
Check out Boise on WIKI.
Cold as heck there as well (-40 in some areas).
Democrats win all white areas (Montana, Maine) or all black areas.
Why is that?
Make sure there’s jobs... dental floss tycoon is already taken.
Idaho has the best homeschooling legal environment in the nation, at least for now. It’s a very outdoorsy state, too.
Moved to Boise from Chicago. What line of work are you in? Not a lot of high paying jobs here. So you would have to consider that.
The same Montana that has a libertarian bent...to the tune of 5% of the vote.
Northern Idaho is beautiful.
I’ve looked at the Sandpoint area... any comments? Thanks!
Movin’ to Montana soon
Gonna be a dental floss tycoon
(Yes I am)
There is no place in the nation to escape tyranny now.
That explains the Democrats in the Senate and often in the Governor’s Mansion, liberaltarians love Democrats

I didn’t know!!
Moving is not an effective response to our nadtional collapse. Stay put and go Gault.
High-end swimming pool construction, service, and maintenance. A family business... the entire family is considering relocating, in stages.
A buffer would be nice... Connecticut is in the belly of the beat.
East Tennessee...great climate for gardening...and you will need food. I agree with other posters, though...there really is no place to go.
beat=beast
