Like the Rolling Stones, James Bond movies turn 50 this year, and you cant blame either for playing their hits. What more do you want from Start Me Up? Violins? A hip-hop beat?
But like the Stones, 007 is showing his wrinkles, and in the utterly routine effort Skyfall, were actually expected to cheer each chord weve heard so many times (heres a martini shaker! Look, its a Walther PPK! And theres an Aston Martin!) Weve been turned into wretched Pavlovian dogs, salivating at the bell instead of the snack. The highlight, by far, is a classic animated credit sequence: Adele, you are the new Shirley Bassey

I think everything Hollywood should fall flat. They don’t like us anyhow. That must mean they don’t need our money, either.
Spot on. Every business & every person who donated/ donates to the left needs to feel it in their pocketbook. Starve the beast.
I’m usually a glutton for punishment when it comes to James Bond films, but after yesterday. I just don’t care anymore. If I don’t see it on video anytime soon... meh. Done with going to the movie theaters.
I’m gonna pirate download this film.
I think that is our best *revenge* on the democrats. DO NOT SPEND. Write older kids a IOU for xmas. Something, just starve the bassturds as best you can.
Personally, I am just busy, and make sure to enjoy a little entertainment now and then. So unless a film comes across as incredibly outstanding, well, I have to prioritize my films watched.
I'll just insulate myself even more and tune out the noise.
Nutmeg: “Why would Asians vote RAT?” They're part of the choreographed assault on bringing America and the white man down, period. They're winning, BTW.
That new Bond guy just rubs me the wrong way. There is just something off with that guy.
Meh. Precious little has come out since the mid 70s that was worth watching. The last time DH or I have been to a movie was the mid 80s. We have a collection of films prior to that & will keep adding to it.
I’ll tell you what we should all be looking into, though (& I don’t know a thing about it & fear that I am too much of a doof to pull it off) Our access to the internet is going down. FR & many of the Southron forums/ blogs have been knocked offline, regularly, for how long now?
Pirate radio might be another & definitely ham radio.
FR was having server trouble. No one knocked it off anything.
Notice it was for the most part working last night and is working fine now. They fixed it in time for the election.
It’s very painful; most of all because I am as guilty as anyone (”When they came for...”) We thought America would last forever. We took her for granted.
The words “a republic, if you can keep it” have been popping into my mind for too long.
**** Hollywood.
FR was screaming fast for me yesterday (& I think the day before). I’ve had a couple of weird incidents this morning when I tried to post, but otherwise, yes, it’s great.
Best Buy has 16 Bond blu-rays for 9.99. Got 15 only sold out of OHMSS!
Me tto, they have taken a very classy character and turned him into a trashy and not very attractive guy.
Oh, kinda like our prez, eh?
I miss the old 007 characters.
“Perdogg”.
Free Republic’s supreme self-anointed Hollywood “entertainment industry” bootlicking stooge.
Thanks all the same feller, but I’ll pass.
It's you gaydar going off.
There is just something off with that guy.
Try googling this: daniel craig gay
It has been years since I was in a movie theater (12). I see no reason to break that streak now.
I am firmly into starving the beast. Was doing that when it wasn’t cool. Netflix, at $12/month, gives me more movies than I can handle.
A movie from Netflix and microwave popcorn... a nice evening.
Watching the beast shrink.
