Yep. Exactly.
The United States is done.
What we definitely lose is a chance to replace Ginsburg and Breyer, and thus finally get the conservative majority Reagan and Bush I failed to deliver. Obama will now easily replace both of them with justices every bit as left wing, or even more so.
If we’re lucky, Scalia and Kennedy will remain healthy and stick it out for at least four more years. But even if they do, I’m not convinced we have much chance in 2016 either. I mean, the country just reelected a terrible president. So what if things are as bad or worse in 4 years? It obviously doesn’t matter. The electorate will likely be less than 70% white in 2016. So what chance do we have then?
At most we can hope to maintain the status quo, and hope that Roberts and Kennedy don’t stray on the big issues. But I think we can kiss goodbye any hope of ever getting a conservative Supreme Court. That dream is dead.
You are right, and why, in other post, I have said that America is finished.
God only knows who he will appoint in the next four years.
If you think the first two lezbo Commie clowns are bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Yes, the country is terribly divided - One side wants essentially a different liberal (read living - let men change it when they are elected) Constitution and the other wants to preserve the one we have from the founders of this great country. If the Supreme Court goes liberal and disregards the Constitution (as our President has) then it might be the start of a major breakup between the States.
Actually, nothing looks very good for the future.
Oh sht. I forgot about that.
They will no doubt vote out that pesky constitution.
CJ John Roberts. Sandra Day O'Conner.
These were two solid Republicans appointed by Republican presidents. What real difference does the president's party really mean??
Not just the Supreme Court. District and Circuit courts too. All with lifetime appointments. Obama’s judges will be legislating from the bench for the next 30 years.
With Harry Reid keeping control of the Senate, there will be no way to stop even the most Marxist appointments Obama picks.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
obumpa
Yup, the U.S. justice system will be the most corrupt in the world, if it isn’t already.
That is the one big, if not the biggest, issue of importance in this campaign. Obama nominated Supreme Court judges that misrepresented their plans and had no intention of living up to their oath to support the Constitution. That greatly subverts the rule of law and makes all laws and rights uncertain as the whims of judges will now be the rule.
However, it was virtually ignored in a campaign focused on the economy. The economy was not crucial in this election because the general electorate have heard four years of “its getting better!” propaganda and have gotten used to the mediocre economic situation. The related American cultural values of freedom and prosperity are not understood by 21st century Americans.
Second amendment is in their sights.
Is that any scarier than another 10 trillion $ of debt?
Two more appointments is enough to finish off this nation.
Is that scarier than having half of the country’s doctors retiring because of owe-bamacare?
Yes, my biggest worry besides the election outcome.
The supreme court went to hell 40 years ago when it legalized child sacrifice. This life we are headed into is expected.
Actually, looking at Romney’s judicial picks it looks like this was a wash.
Romney *is* a liberal.
Makes me nauseous to even think about it.
