Well said.

As a non-believer myself, it amazes me to see so many Freepers who believe that God is in control being far more despondent tonight than am I.

Notary

i am very much a believer, and i believe that ultimately it is His will that prevails:

I believe God answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is no.

Isaiah 40:23 reads: He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

Although we can’t understand it now, it must be that Obama remaining in the White House for now must serve some purpose...

Rev, I do not think you actually understand the Christian faith in the proper context when it comes to what you have heard in relation to the analogy of putting ones faith in God (Recall that not so eloquent phraseology that went something like - Its a Black thing you would not understand, e.g., being white made it impossible to comprehend). Not just Christians, but those who have faith in God also understand they find comfort is putting their burdens beyond ones control onto a higher authority and faith alone does not resolve the need, desire, or situation. Rather it allows people to balance their priorities. The illusion that God is in actual physical control is a concept that non-faithful have elevated to proportions that mislead among themselves the very concept. People of faith have the outlet of putting some things uncontrollable into God's hands and allow them to play out knowing full well the outcome will be what it will be; yet with prayer we believe our God does provide.

Something that sums up concept passed me last week that went along the lines of - God does not prevent bad things or good things from happening, but rather all things cause you to be shaped for the better if you intellectually apply Christian principles. This means a death or other tragedy hurts you, but you have to choose your response - by shaping yourself within a set of principles, in this examples those of Christianity then you are shaped.

Christians are misunderstood to be nut cases by nonbelievers. Believers see the human institutions of governance as one that provides what man controls.

Either person, whether of faith or not, follows a complex set of rules in which they live to sort out chaos and give order to their lives.

The very idea people believe who project onto Christians a widely held liberal falsehood that God is in control is to very aptly conclude that you are not a Christian, you do not understand and as a consequence cannot or will not allow your intellect to understand.
