Vanitay: After Romney Wins
11/5/2012 | Walkingfeather

Many of us had great hesitation about Romney as a candidate. He just was too centrist for our liking. THEN... the debates hit. I personally saw a man I could join with him in his race.Suddenly we had the benefit of actually really liking the man we all wanted to defeat Obama. However, please remember this....... We want to get Obama out of office as priority number 1. It was our impression that shifted towards him. In all likely hood he will not govern from the right. I am saying this because I do not want people to have the presupposition that because you actually like Romney it means he will act like Reagan. No whining or Bitching when he actually does what he says he is going to do and reach across the aisle. Here is why I bring up this point. So we all know the political reality we are dealing with. First outcome, Obama out, Boom we got that win.

BUT knowing Romney will not govern 100% like we want, what are your top 2-5 issues you would want to utilize pressure to have him go our way on? List them Below and your strategy ideas on how to pressure a candidate that is not our candidate to hit at least our top priorities?

No whining or Bitching when he actually does what he says he is going to do and reach across the aisle.

You can forget about that. Romney is no Conservative, and if he wins tomorrow, then it will be his turn to be primaried in 2016. If Conservatives shut up and drink the GOP-E hemlock in the aftermath like you suggest, then the Conservative movement will be dead. Period.

He is going to owe us. It is up to us to make sure he repays the debt.

We've got to stay active.

My top issues are Freedom, individual rights, Business, health care, energy. Romney could not deliver on these even if he was full right wing. He will make much improvement though. I am for a new political party, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin as president to clean up after Romney.

You can’t reach across the aisle when the other side slides over to the far-far left and rolls up in the fetal position. Which I suspect is what will happen.

Getting rid of all the Czars Obama anointed would immediately save millions. Make the federal agencies responsible for those things do their jobs or close them.

I’m hoping Romney sees himself as transcendent. He could be the new Reagan.

However, if he’s the new George HW Bush, we conservatives need to hold his feet to the fire.

We will need a massive return to DC for a Repeal Rally shortly after inauguration in order to remind them of how serious we are about rooting out ObamaCare. They’ll go wobbly if we don’t keep the heat on.

The best way to try keep him on the straight and narrow is to pick one and only one candidate to primary him in 2016.

President Romney has his work cut out for him. His first act of business should be to declare an end to America’s war on American energy production, followed by approving the Keystone Pipeline, and ending bans on drilling and exploration. America can’t be first among nations unless we put America first, and that will require plentiful, cheap energy.

As politically ideological as I am I bet you are wondering why I am so quite about this election. It’s that I am not putting my stock in Romney. He is WEAK and although he is heads above Barry he is going to let all of you people who are praising him now down big time. Yes he is going to win. And he will most likely win big. but not because he did anything except be the the other guy. Obama has been such a marxist and disaster that anybody but Obama would have won. Now comes the hard part. Fixing things. Oh yes the next year or two will be much better because optimism will peak. As it should. Obama has been intentionally trying to bring this country down so stopping that will be a weight off the economy. Drilling for oil will bring prices down and create jobs and trickle down and of course business will generally be better off. But then it will come down to hard decisions about what to do about the budget and deficit. Romney and the elite republicans will never rock the boat and make the hard choices. They are moderates and liberals and not conservatives. It will be status que and things will be right back where we started. High taxes, High inflation, dollar not worth anything and a weak under funded military. We will have 20 trillion deficit by the time Romney has to run for election again and he will just blame it on Obama and we will say YES. This is why I did not want a weak ass like Romney to be our nominee in the first place. The only reason I am not as vocal about being against him is the fact I don’t want to do anything to hurt getting Obama out either. Enjoy Tuesday.

Here are my 5 biggies in no particular order:

  1. Remove all "assault" weapons bans and pass the state to state reciprocity bill
  2. Cut the deficit by half or more
  3. Reverse, delete, expunge all Executive Orders signed by Obama
  4. Remove anyone who was hired by Obama and fire anyone with the title "Czar"
  5. Get Keystone finished and get the US drilling using our own resources so we can flip the bird to foreign energy interests.

Just like last time, regardless of who wins, I'll continue to get up and go to work. The federal government will continue to get larger and more powerful, intersecting with heretofore off-limits areas of our lives. Individual liberty will continue to be diminished. Personal responsibility will be made anathema.

And it will still be true that we killed the British for far less than that with which we put up today. Happy voting!

You are probably right, but half the FReepers will do everything to make sure he gets renominated even if he turns out to be RINO-ish
