Northeast FReepers who were affected by Sandy, please check in here when/if you have power to let us know your status. Tell us what, if anything, you need so we can organize help or get help to you. If you can, share your story with us. Tell us how you weathered the storm, what the condition is of your house or property, loved ones, pets, neighbors, etc.
You're in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in any way, let us know!
Aw, I wish I could, dear one! The sun was out this morning, but it has retreated behind the clouds again. We have a 30% chance of rain again today, and the promise of a sunny day is broken.
But there were puffy white clouds and a blue sky for a short time earlier this morning. I enjoyed the light and beauty, but the dreary weather has returned.
Go away, Sandy!! Ain’t you done yet? Sheesh!
DIESEL KNOCK LIST AND TINNITUS RING LIST PINGED!........
Thinking of you. Hope you are safe and well.
I live, and am abusing FR as we speak.
Thanks for asking ... we’re fine in Northern VA. Dodged a major bullet. Lost power for a coupla hours and that was about it. I had the bunker fully stocked and ready to go. Fortunately, we didn’t need it.
However, I have several friends in NY/NJ/CT that I still can’t get thru to. Fortunately, daughter who lives in NYC is in London this week, and her husband was in DC, so they’re good, too.
Great that you are running this thread. A nice service for fellow FReepers.
Friends family and neighbors work for utility companies and were on the road before the storm ended. Will report any details they send home...Most expect to be gone for up to a month.
Alerted by Laz ping to this thread. North Shore MA fared well. I never lost power and all power restored to here by yesterday.
Apparently a nor’easter coming next week and it may be our turn this time.
I work for a well known CATV company and if true I’ll be busy next week
Sounds like a good trade for your neighbors.
It’s not Sandy.
Rumor has it there’s a nor’easter brewing.
Won’t be nearly the magnitude by any stretch of the imagination, but they do not need any more wind or rain/snow.
The worst part about the storm for me personally is now it’s going to be even more difficult to find a job for a little while since a huge portion of Manhattan got wrecked.
Good to see you, Bro.
Have you heard from/of Elder Bro and his brood yet? I thought he was on storm duty.
Nephew was trying to get to the coast...
Great to hear from you. I am so glad to know you’re OK.
Do you have a wood stove?
You’ll be set for heat for years.
Cleveland/Akron
Was supposed to be a nice day here today,,,, it ain’t. Steady drizzle. 54,000 still without power in Cuyahoga County. No problems here though.
If Obama gets re-elected, electrical blackouts may become the new normal, so get prepared.
Seriously, electrical outages aren’t the end of the world, especially when temperatures are not extreme.
South Coast of Massachusetts, about 10 miles inland. Nothing to report. We were without power for about 12 hours, we were fortunate. The actual shoreline didn’t fare as well.
We have a worthless fireplace insert which needs electric to blow the hot air out. I figure we will freeze in this old house if I don’t get a natural gas generator asap. Seems power goes out often down here. We do have enough wood for yrs. Good wood like black walnut, oak & cherry. Just needs to season. Glad to be back on FR, that chemo took so much out of me. Now I just pray it works. My doctor lost his house & I can’t get blood test results until Nov 13th..
Life/health BUMP!
Anyone heard from trisham? I’m starting to worry.
