If the crap really does hit the oscillator, those on meds, dialysis and stuff are going to be some of the first to go

I don’t have a problem with households having a few days worth of food and water on hand..

Why only a few days? Why does it even bother you that some people prepare for emergencies? Millions of us have lived in conditions where 2 weeks has been revealed as the minimum for preparedness. Many need tornado proof shelters and what is the reasonable limit for buying ammo to you?

With all the notice they had, why the heck were there so many floating cars in NYC? Oh, right, it’s a way to get the insurance company to buy you a new car.

Those who live in tornado country or hurricane country may well have good reason to prepare for tough times. If that means a week or two (or maybe even three) of food, water, etc it may be wise and reasonable. It's the ones who have gas masks, food supplies that have a 20 year shelf life,1,000 doses of penicillin and 50,000 rounds of ammo who are the whackjobs.

That guy in your picture better hope he doesn’t get caught in flood waters and have to swim for his life........or run for his life for that matter.

All the supplies in the world don’t mean a thing if your home has been destroyed and you’re walking or trying to drive around in waist deep flood water..... I wonder how many of the people who stocked up eventually had to evacuate out of the area?

Until someone swipes your RV. (Kidding - kind of)

It might be worth having a hidden electrical shut off so it can’t be hot wired.

I tend to mind my own business. It's the purest form of tolerance.

“Whackjob” is a sliding scale.

My libinlaw thinks I’m a whackjob, and that’s only because she’s seen that we have a “lot” (by her standards) of canned food.

You clearly have some emotional issue with preparedness.

Why only days worth of supplies when we know that weeks are more realistic? Why do you limit your permission only to tornado and hurricane regions and not approve of people preparing in earthquake and blizzard regions, or any region where they may have to endure unemployment?

Why do you keep going after ammunition? What is wrong with food that has a long shelf life instead of a short shelf life?, what is wrong with people in Manhattan being prudent enough to buy a couple of Israeli gas masks, like Israel issues?

I don’t get your whole thing against self sufficiency and being independently prepared to take care of one’s self and one’s family.

It seems weird to be talking to an ‘anti-preparedness’ advocate.

Not sure what it means, but Bi-Mart has instituted a 5 carton limit on purchases of Phillip Morris cigs.

Hello. If you are enough of a prepper to stock up like that, you are enough of a prepper to have figured out that you live in an area you may need to bug out of and have contingency plans, like a more disaster proof place to go to where your supplies WON'T be blown or washed away.

Real prepping is more than just buying and hoarding lots of food, water, and ammo.

Sheesh, Please engage brain before putting mouth in gear.

Back when I was shooting a lot more than I do today, and had the family here helping me burn through ammo, 75,000 rounds was just smart bulk purchases. The price of ammo NEVER goes down, and the discounts for bulk were significant.

I buy coffee once a year to last all year. Bulk again, green coffee beans that will last many years. Buying bulk coffee around harvest season from a broker in Costa Rica brings my price for truly fantastic coffee way, way down. Since I roast it myself, I have some of the best coffee in the area. Beats Starbucks hands down.

Same with powdered milk. I buy in bulk every few years because it lasts, and I don't use fresh milk in my cooking. A quart would go bad before it got used up.

I do that with LOTS of items that I regularly use. Seems pretty fiscally conservative to me.

The other option is depending on government handouts and bailouts.

GSC will end up standing in line waiting for Uncle Handout to send in the National Guard with supplies that he can sell his freedom and soul for.

Those with issues will be the among the first to either, try to steal, blackmail or ‘Rat’ on prepper’s who have beyond what ever limit of preps they deem appropriate should the emergency last.

I wonder how many preppers are safe warm, dry and eating good at their Bug out Location and thanking God that they got out of town before it truned into 'WET' Hell?
