This aspect of the storm is thus far not getting much coverage.
I'm getting steady wind at about 25 mph, occasional gusts up to 40 mph, temperature 38 degrees, light drizzle with possible flurries for the morning. I'm in NC near the VA border, within sight of the Blue Ridge on the northwestern horizon.
Earlier in the day, models were predicting 30” for higher elevations in the Smokies, which was a surprise. i do not know if these models held.
Canaan Valley in West Virginia reportedly already has over a foot.
Next to impossible to post on FR
North Central WV, 1500’...35 degrees...91% humidity...Barometer droped from 29.78” to 29.48” in last 12 hrs....wind calm. About an inch of heavy, wet snow on everything. Was hoping for at least a bit of wind to shake it off wires and limbs. Preparing for heavy rains and wind tomorrow. Creek in back yard is up some, but nowheres near a problem yet.
Have to set a battery alarm clock for every hour to make sure the power is on. If it goes out, I need to start the generator for my sump pumps and for the blower for my wood burner.
Gonna be a long night, but others have it worse.
