I just had to come on to FR tonight and post an experience I had this evening in downtown Dallas.
There was a celebration going on with a brand new 5.5 acre park that opened today downtown and there were live bands and fireworks and families and food and drinks...a really nice cold Fall night in Dallas. I would say there was easily 35,000 if not more in attendance.
So what makes tonight so different? Well...it was the communication between black and white families that was taking place. I would hear random conversations coming and going through the night amongst the crowd and we would engage in some of them and here was the fascinating thing that I discovered...blacks have had it with Obama.
I am not talking about what the MSNBC crowd would call "Uncle Tom/Sell Out Blacks" either. I am talking the straight up $10 to $12 an hour wage earners who are not making it at all.
One by one by one by one they either said they were not going to vote because Texas is going Romney anyway and that their families in Arkansas and Louisiana felt the same way. They are not only fiscally worse since Obama took office but they felt that Obama did NOTHING to improve the image of blacks in general.
Read that again.

That is pretty powerful stuff.
A large number of really good and hard working folks who were extremely offended by Obama embracing gay marriage, pissing on the military (so many folks have kids in the Army, Navy, and Air Force), and that when he got to the White House he didn't come visit inner cities, that he appointed people who didn't have anything in common with where he claimed he was coming from back in 2008.
My fellow Freepers, I wish you could have seen and heard what I heard tonight with my friends and family. They are staying home. They are not voting period. They were honest that they didn't believe in Romney and said if he does prove that he can turn the economy and jobs situation around and restores our foundation in God back to this country then they will reconsider in 4 years...but as of this year? Barack ain't got their vote and he does not have the vote of their families either.
Common words heard tonight were "He don't care", "He's OK but he ain't gettin' it done", "I am working harder than I ever have and never get to go out and do anything."
The saddest thing was a family of 10..10! Mom and Dad married for 25 years they voted for Reagan, Clinton twice, Gore, Bush, and Obama. They said they have 3 kids who have moved back home now and 2 are getting divorced and they have 2 kids each and that if you asked them 5 years ago if their family and lives would be this destroyed they would never have believed it.
The grandfather/Dad said to me that he owns a lawn/landscaping business and how many people he has had to lay off because people are doing their own lawns more and more now and landscaping is becoming a luxury item even for commercial accounts.
At the end of the day he said everything comes down to the security of having a job and a pay check and his faith and his rights protected and that voting for Obama was a "gesture vote" last time and he won't do it again.
I am just dying to know how many families these stories are being played out in across the nation tonight.
I can say with confidence that Barack Obama is going to lose at least 20 to 25% of the black vote he had last time which can do nothing but put the finishing touches on his epic collapse to come.

It's a worthy idea, and I will give it due consideration, but I've done my level best to turn my family members on to columns and books by black conservative thinkers, and haven't gotten any bites.
Blacks (on average) can be very orthodox in what they perceive to be group agreements, and thus, can be very resistant to even inspecting the thoughts and ideas of known outsiders and rebels.
It's why they don't listen to me, despite the fact that they admire and value my opinions in other areas. When it comes to politics, they just chalk my positions up to some sort of weird eccentricity.
We will all know on Nov 7th what the numbers say. I would be pleased to see black folks sit this election out in great numbers....we shall see.
I simply think this way now. If they Voted for Obama in 2008, it was probably due to Ignorance.
If they Vote for Obama in 2012, Ignorance is no excuse.

I think three of the people rescued from the consulate were black. I thought it was interesting when I read it. I am pretty sure I read that in the last two days. It had to be the account from the Libyan security guards who ran. The attackers did not kill those Libyan guards. They beat them up and maybe grazed them with bullets.
You seem to be stuck in a fixed viewpoint that isn't informed by anything other than pure opinion about what black voters are going to do in this election.
It's fine with me if you'd rather guess at what black voters will do on November 6th, but you could truly inform yourself rather easily if you wanted to.
The fact is, sentiments about Obama are now mixed among blacks. They've suffered more than any other group during his presidency. Support for him in the black community isn't nearly as strong as you might think.

I wouldn't think of it, even though they rubbed my nose in their win, four years ago. It's just not how we conservatives roll.
I'm also not going to try to educate them any further. Been there - done that - have the scars to show for it.
How’s this: I’m going by past HISTORY of black voting behavior since the 1960s. Blacks, in general, don’t vote in large numbers for the GOP, ever, anywhere. I interact with blacks all the time at work & I’ve yet to hear one of them say that they are not voting for Obama. You have “feelings” on your side....great, I respect that, but I’ll stick with how I have watched blacks ACTUALLY vote in the real world year after year.
We don’t know how many blacks will stay home, but the burden to prove that is not on me....history has shown that blacks ain’t buying what the GOP is selling. To expect them to sit on their hands and watch the first black president go down to defeat is asking a lot....don’t you think ?
Would the complicit Media continue to downplay what happened if that was the case?
Would all the Players in this fiasco, Obama, Biden, Clinton and the rest be held accountable by the Democrat Base since that clearly is not happening at the moment?
Basically, would that simple fact change what we see today in the Press and the Presidential Polls?
It's not isolated. It's pretty widespread. As was stated upthread, many (if not most) well educated, enterprising blacks who gave Obama their vote in 2008, have literally been shamed by his awful performance in office. They thought he would finally bring some dignity to the image of black people, but he did nothing of the kind.
If anything, he's set the public relations of black people back by decades, and a lot of blacks are seriously feeling betrayed about it. The man is a complete embarrassment to them. He's shown himself to be incompetent, weak, indecisive, divisive, petty, irresponsible, vindictive, juvenile, and truly uncaring.
Blacks watched Congress write him a check for nearly a Trillion Dollars to stimulate the economy, and didn't see a single dime trickle down into their neighborhoods, businesses, etc. But they sure did see Wall Street and GM get bailed out. Don't think for a moment that they didn't react to that.
Many blacks are also deeply religious, and didn't take kindly to his 'evolving' stance on gay 'marriage', or the fact that he always seems to have a kind word for Islam, but rarely for Christianity. He's no different than any other sweet talking con man they've run across, and that's exactly how many now see him.
I have one friend and one family member who are die-hard democrats. One is in Georgia, the other in California. They both have decided to dump Obama, although the GA one said she will not vote Romney. The CA is still deciding. Their votes won’t matter, but it is interesting how people are fed up.

Unless you're living in your own private Ground Hog Day, this time is not like other times. History changes with each passing day.
Obama now has a record. One that is so disastrous, he can't run on it, but can only attack his rival. Part of that record is the fact that blacks have suffered more under his presidency than any other group.
Don't think that they're not acutely aware of it. They fully expected dramatic changes to their way of life, due to Obama being president, but conditions have actually deteriorated for them and their families. I'm afraid there will be a price to be paid for that. Many blacks are going to take their frustrations out on Obama by staying home.
You say that you interact with blacks all the time at work. Sit down and have lunch with them some time, and ask them what they think of the last four years. You might hear some surprising answers.
