</sarc> This is the sarcasm tag. It is not a real HTML tag. It is used to mark your witty repartee so that everyone will know you are making a funny. Type an ampersand - & then lt; then /sarc. An & and gt makes the other carat >.

While there are several tags which have openings but no closings (<p>, <li>), the </sarc> is interesting because it is the only html tag which has a closing but no opening. It requires potentially infinite look-ahead in order to parse properly. Some FReepers never quite seem to see it at all.
