Ever wonder what happens to the internet after you log off? I bet it never crossed your mind that even though you logged off the internet, your computer is still vulnerable. Yes, if you fail to actually turn the internet off first before you log off, you are leaving your pc's hard drive vulnerable to being hacked. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does happen enough. Imagine all the vital information you have on your computer that someone could steal.
Well, very few people know about this, but there is an OFF button (off button below) that needs to be clicked or else your computer will still be logged onto the web. In order to protect your hard drive from being accessed while you are away, you should always turn off the internet before you log off. So the next time you are finished surfing the web, make sure you stop by to turn off the internet. After all, it is the responsible thing to do.
Just click on the button in the image below and you will turn off the internet. Then you can assured that after you have log off, no one will be hacking into your computer, and all your information will be safe. Please be a good citizen and share this information with everyone you know.
LOLOL!
Yeah, and they were quite a dang mess to sweep up again, too!
[giggles] Okay! I give! Uncle!
Definitely of a dunk (vs. sprinkle) denomination!
There’s also WOL (Wake On LAN), but those settings aren’t particularly useful unless you’re running services from your home computer. Regardless, your computer needs to be turned on for any data to be accessible.
Yes, I understand that this article was satire.
That graphic is classic but sadly outdated. That graphic shows the Internet is approx. 23 Petabytes. I worked for a hospital system that had over 20 EXAbytes (1 Exabyte = 1,024 Petabytes) of EMC SAN disk. More than enough to store the Internet from this graphic.
FWIW, there’s no real way to calculate the exact size of publicly accessible data. The total amount of stored data, public and private, is probably incalculable in a “Graham’s Number” sort of way.
Thanks for the education. I just found someplace and thought it was funny enough to use in a reply comment.
However, what you say makes perfect sense. The total information out there on the WWW is not just incalculably large, it is also growing exponentially every second we breath.
Even if we could download all the information, by the time we no sooner clicked the finish button, the information would have grown exponentially again. So we could never ever keep up with it even if we tried.
That is why, try as they may, the governments will never be able to control the content on the web, short of shutting down all the servers or sabotaging the phone line system and disabling the satellites.
Thank you for replacing the image.
I still would like to know why it was pulled.
However, it is what it is, and you put it back.
..... Again thank you.
Oh, wow! You stepped into the “Barbie Doll” argument! Someone should write a book for you guys so you don’t step in it so often. : )
Thank you. It is my favorite of all time of us. That’s why it’s the wallpaper on my pc screen.
As for the barbie doll argument, it was my fault.
See, after 25 years I did learn some lessons.
Yes dear, you are right, and I am sorry.... :>)
Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
