Tata CEO Ratan Tata has apparently decided to sell the Tata Nano minicar in the United States, even as Tata lacks though proper sales channel.
In an interview with Automotive News, the company namesake said that a redesigned Nano, with features like traction control, a more powerful engine and power steering, could go on sale at a price below $10,000 in three years time.
But a distribution channel is still a giant question mark, with Tata saying We have to give a lot of thought to how we would distribute the car, and little else. Tatas remarks came at the opening of a New Jersey-area Jaguar Land Rover dealership
In the US the only markets they have are for inner cities. It would make a lot of sense if one wanted something cheap and small to zip around and parking will be easy!
If I’m not mistaken, this car costs $2,000 — maybe $3000
Perhaps, but on 28Sep12, Obama signed a regulation into effect that ALL cars had to run at 54 mpg by 2025.
