The fact that this killing wasn't just execution of a punishment called for by Islamic law but a near decapitation indicates that the husband harbored a very deep anger (and not just at his wife).

This is probably symptomatic of the irreconcilable nature of Islam and modernity. I would imagine most devout muslims living in the west or even in somewhat modernized eastern countries harbor this anger, however much it might be submerged.

They don’t disagree that the man didn’t kill his wife? I would think it would be “They don’t disagree that the man killed his wife?” Not he didn’t kill his wife.”
