Native American Indians from western United States found to have genetic mutation typical of Ashkenazi Jews; connection may date back to time of Christopher Columbus
A population of Native American Indians from the US state of Colorado has been found to have a genetic mutation typical of Ashkenazi Jews. The finding suggests the presence of common roots that date back to the days of Christopher Columbus.
According to RT news, the so-called Ashkenazi mutation is a deleterious modification in BRCA1 gene which increases risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. Researchers from the Sheba (Tel Hashomer) Medical Center in Israel found it in the DNA of descendants of those Indians who moved from Mexico to Colorado some 200 years ago.
The same mutation was earlier tracked in Hispanic Americans whose ancestors also arrived in the United States from Mexico and South America.
Computer analysis of genetic data has revealed that the two groups should have a common ancestor a Jewish person who moved from Europe to the New World as far back as 600 years ago. At around the same time that Christopher Columbus discovered America, and the Jewish population was expelled from Spain.
In their publication in the European Journal of Human Genetics, the team, led by Eitan Friedman, notes that Colorados Mexican Indians do not seem to have any traditions that would link them to Jews
There is no meaningful evidence that Columbus was a Jew.
Man, I’m having to dig thru my brain but I read a book 30 years ago about the differentiation between Sephardic (which I recall as indigenous, darker skinned genetic original Jews, and the Ashkenazi who were largely converts(?) who went up into Europe.
Someone please beat me with a stick ; I’m no historian or scholar.
Which leads me to believe that individual people (as always) are much more accepting than Society at large.
With Exceptions of Course, like in the 1400's, 1500's when England and France expelled all their Jews they fled to Poland-Lithuania, where the Commonwealth was far more accepting.
We see this today in my own Family, my English Catholic Mother Marrying my German Jewish Father.
My dad has been doing genealogy research and up the tree, we had a Jewish Rabbi which makes me 1/16th Jewish. And I am proud of that part of my ancestry. I am mostly German blood though.
>> So did Columbus have any Jewish members of his crew?
[So where is Mel Brooks now that we need him?]
Seriously, though, any Jews on the ship were without a doubt Sepharditos (Sephardic Jews). For a fascinating read, Google up “cryptic jews new mexico”. I own several books on this. When things got hot in the old country, they escaped to la Frontera (the frontier). (Who, us? Jews? Oy! - er, ah - ha ha... don’t be silly.)
Very Interesting! Thanks for the link.
The stuff I read years ago, pre-DNA tends to support the division 2500 years ago, but this sheds additional light.
God will preserve His Truth unto the end, if only through a remnant, but every prophecy will ring 100% true!
Don’t worry. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) will claim tomorrow that she is a member of that tribe. Being a lawyer of some kind, she could stretch the claim a little bit and claim to be from that small Jewish tribe of lawyers, “The Sue”.
Obama will be right behind her, claiming that his real father was from one of the “Ten Lost Tribes of Israel” who moved to Kenya after the fall of the ancient state of Israel.
Michele can’t claim any Jewish blood as the Yetis are not recognized as a tribe.
Sephardic Jews coming over with the Conquistadors would explain how Jewish Genes got into the Native American blood line.
i got it solved: The Lost Jewish Tribe:
The Jews escaped to Jutland, became Jutes, then went to Kent, Britain, then escaped to Colorado where they became Utes.
Now Obama is gonna remove Columbus Day.
Are they the lost utes in the news everyday?
My recollection of anglo-israelism wouldn’t support that particular theorem; but day be plenty lost utes dat be gettin day ax togetha, homes.
It has long been known that Jews escaping from Spain and other places migrated to what is now Mexico, and then, seeking isolation, moved to New Mexico and Colorado, where, over time, they largely assimilated with the surrounding population.
Many found it easier to assimilate, because they were from the “New Christians,” Jewish converts to Christianity, who were especially persecuted in Spain.
I have met some Indian/Hispanic families in Southern Colorado who will tell you they are Jewish, but will also tell you they are Christian, all expressed without any sense of contradiction.
We had a Jewish Lecturer stop by our church once who claimed that most Americans who are descendants of Europeans, are likely jewish because Europe was mostly made up of Jews from the lost tribe of Ephraim (who supposedly migrated to that region and dispersed and spread throughout Europe)- I’ve not looked into this claim- but if so- I think a lot of folks in htis country who ‘hate Jews’ might just be quite shocked to find out they are ifnact part Jewish
Kosher buffalo?
A whole new twist to tribal casinos?
This is similar to ‘British Israelism’ claims, but is contradicted by DNA evidence.
from what hte lecturer was saying, the evidence was in favor of the idea? Do you have any links to the dna agaisnt it?

for starters.
There’s no genetic evidence for ‘British Israelism’ or anything similar.
Thanks, I’ll readf that through tonight- I’m curious abotu what we were taught0- it was a very very itneresting lecture- and he made an aweful good case for his arguments at the time- I just wish I could remember more of what was said- I had notes, but they’ve long since dissappeared I’m afraid
