If I eat too many sunflower seeds, I notice an increase in anxiety. Seriously.

I fry with canola or peanut oil and use olive oil for everything else.

The bottles take a lot more room on the shelf because they keep turning towards the sun.

Read everyone’s replies & here’s what’s interesting. When you have birds (parrots, cockatiels, etc), you’re not supposed to feed them a lot of sunflower seeds because they’re fattening.

Most vegetable oils should be avoided. Not only do they throw off your omega 3 to 6 balance, which will get you inflamed and lead to possibly every ailment known to man (especially neurodegenerstive diseases like alzheimers and parkinsons) but the way they are processed makes them rancid and toxic.

Organic cold pressed olive oil is healthy as long as you eat it cold or warm — as in salad dressings or a spritz after your food is cooked. To cook with, the healthiest fats are organic coconut oil and butter and any other animal fat from a healthy animal.

Yes, everything we were taught about fats and oils was basically wrong. Most cardiologists are not even caught up, but to those who research go the spoils of actual good health. Google Mark’s Daily Apple. It’s a great comprehensive site for info on biological science in health.

Everyone would do well to stay far away from standard vegetable oils. Oh, and every canola oil is GMO. You become an unpaid lab rat to see what herbicides do inside your body.

Cooking oils, simplified

These days, the selection of cooking oils at a typical supermarket can rival the selection of products in the paint aisle at the hardware store — the endless amount of options can be overwhelming.
