The Pulse of the Nation

I've been thinking about the depressing skewed poll numbers and believe polls do not detect the pulse of the nation at all. Assuming there have been around 10,000 people a day total polled, that amounts to 300,000 the last month. A lot of the polls only contain 500 or so people. Anyway in 2008, the number of people that voted was around 123 million, so 300,000 is a drop in the bucket. I think a better way to gauge both the enthusiasm of the Republicans and the true pulse of the nation is to look at other indicators. (1)Rush Limbaugh is heard by 15 million listeners weekly and is the top political commentator, (2)according to the heat index at Amazon, conservative books outsell the liberal books, (3)the lack of Obama signs this year, (4)the consistency of Fox heading all the cable networks, with the top six or so conservative pundits leading in the Nielsen ratings. (5)Also, it's very hard to believe the polls when the majority of those polled say the country is heading in the wrong direction, they are not better off now than four years ago, Obama's policies have not worked - but yet they are voting for him. Doesn't make sense to me. If it wasn't for the MSM trying to make Obama look good, his ratings would be 0. Can you think of other indicators that detect the pulse of the nation other than polls?

Well, Bret Baier took a poll tonight on Special Report during the broadcast asking who was going to win Ohio, Obama or Romney. The results were 10% Obama, 90% Romney. 20,000 people responded.
