Britain is facing a bacon and sausage shortage as pig farmers reduce the size of their herds due to the soaring price of feed.
A mass cull is under way among farmers who can no longer afford to feed their animals, according to the National Pig Association.
Droughts in North America and Russia have caused a global failure in the grain crop used for animal feed, pushing up the price.

I know about the traps.
I was thinking of cleaning them out with feed.

If all the farmers are culling their herds because they can’t afford to keep them, wouldn’t that create a sudden glut of bacon that would drive the price down? (At least temporarily?)

I'm less worried about the Brits, than I am about breakfast in the morning.
Pigs are good eats. God has blessed us here in Texas with more than we know what to do with.
More than I can eat, anyway. I know what to do with them.

Pork has been rising rapidly without this news. sausage was ~$2.00/lb back around 2008. it's now around $3-4/lb. I'm sure next year it will be $4-5/lb. We shall remember the days of biscuits and gravy fondly :(
Now, how can we make chicken breakfasty?

It’s not ethanol, its the drought.
I’m sure that putting it all in the gas tank makes it better.

I still have 50-lbs in my 3 huge top-loading freezers, well-wrapped from last summer, at $3.29/lb, but it’s now over $8.79/lb here. That’ll be the end of it after it’s gone, at that price. One other freezer’s full of Allen Bros Prime Filet Mignons and Roasts at 2010-11 prices which would make your jaw drop, as compared to today’s prices.

Yes sir the gift that keeps on giving. Hogs hit the big ranch 5 years ago and their taking over. The first year I shot 5, this year I’ve already got over 40 and I’m not making a dent in them. The 50 to 75 pounders I keep, the big ones end up as buzzard bait.

Now, how can we make chicken breakfasty? Take a chicken breast, batter it, deep fry it and slap it on a biscuit. Eat with a tall glass of sweet tea. It is one of the things I miss about the South.

The Lord’s very own breakfast.
Bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, baked beans, fried bread and mushrooms if you’re into that sort of thing (i’m not)
It is quite simply the greatest thing known to man
