The man may have had an enormous effect on bringing in new NFL fans that never appreciated what the players do before seeing his work. Until you see some of his films, it is hard to believe the abilities. The man had a genius for capturing the game.
RIP.

I used to listen to him narrate a game while the film rolled.
He captured the essence of a game - matchups, personalities, strategies, execution, etc. - and communicated ONLY the relevant details while the film backed up his narrative.
Compelling viewing for those who appreciate football.
His dad started the company by filming Steve's HS games.

One of the most recognizable voices in the NFL!
You will be missed Steve.

I can hear the timpani now. And the slow motion viking raising his weapon to the sky - charging his team to victory.

Still the most iconic shot, was “Old Man” Willie Brown returning the interception against the Vikings in the Super Bowl.

I used to watch Monday Night Football only to see the summaries of the games that he did (back in the Seventies)
Thank you, Mr. Sabol. May you forever recover that giant key fumble in the sky...:)
Great stuff.

RIP Steve, and thanks to your family for giving the rest of America John Facenda just as WCAU-10 gave him to the Delaware Valley.
