During a private fundraiser earlier this year, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a small group of wealthy contributors what he truly thinks of all the voters who support President Barack Obama. He dismissed these Americans as freeloaders who pay no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should take care of them. Fielding a question from a donor about how he could triumph in November, Romney replied:
There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what These are people who pay no income tax.

People dependent on Govt wouldnt vote for Romney anyway . . . .

I hope the press runs it over and over again. The people who pay the taxes in this country are slaves to those that don’t. Those who don’t pay taxes (for the most part) would never consider voting for Romney, they know he would give them less. Those who do pay taxes agree with Romney (mostly), so how can it hurt.
It seems to me that this is just a way to get some free advertising for Romney. This will backfire miserably on the left. Romney is already ahead in fund raising, and with several tens of millions of free publicity he will start having a polling margin of plus five or more soon at least IMHO.
I don’t think that Romney often says anything he doesn’t mean for others to hear. I wouldn’t go holding my breath waiting for an apology, an explanation possibly but no apology. The truth is simply, after all, the truth.
The welfare crowd are moochers, they won’t vote or won’t vote republican. Those that do vote won’t want to be identified with the moochers and idle poor so they won’t vote Democrat, hopefully.
“I just watched the raw video. MotherJones is posting a campaign ad for Romney.
Me thinks Romney wants this out there”
I agree. This wasn’t a John Kerry of-mike moment. He said this loudly, at a mic, knowing full well he was on mic.
This is rope-a-dope. The libtards will publish this around the world, and it won’t cost Romney a dime. Beautiful!!!
Oh they are running with it. He’s getting hit with it hard on Twitter

He's a smart man if he does.
Doubtful. Let’s face it - things run in families. People who were industrious and hard-working tend to raise industrious and hard-working children, who in turn tend to be able to keep or find jobs even in bad times. Remember, even during the Great Depression, ~75% of people who were of age and physically able did have jobs.
Your argument is incorrect because it assumes that somehow, jobs and taxes are completely unrelated. They are not. Despite what the “non-partisan” CRS says, cutting taxes on businesses, and making a generally business-friendly environment for “the rich” (i.e. people who work hard and start businesses, etc.) would keep jobs here. Raising taxes because of misguided class warfare arguments such as yours will drive jobs away. Mitt Romney seems to understand this, while you seem not to.
Capice?
Only to people who don’t really understand either issue.
Upon retirement I got an unusual reward ~ PERFECT ATTENDANCE FOR FOUR DECADES!
My grandmother was a poor woman who raised 10 children and her brother's 6 after his wife died. She did more than her fair share of babysitting with the grandchildre, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Crippled as a young girl she was unable to help keep the family store going when the Great Depression hit.
Her only cash income after that came from Social Security, but not SSA although she'd qualified if she'd applied.
She was a hard core Republican voter and even voted for Alf Landen ~ while the Romneys were lolling around on Mormon charity rolls claiming to be refugees from Mexico. By her standard that ol'boy'd be considered a wastral and layabout not deserving of even Republican charity.
I do believe the man is trying to start a class war. He's insulted the memory of my sainted grandmother and we just can't have that.
Ah, I see. You’re not using rational thought, you’re responding emotionally because you think Romney has somehow delivered some mortal insult to dearly departed Grandma, and you want to slap his face with your bejeweled workglove, or something.
Tragic.
An anecdote does not a mistake make.
Poor thing ~ but suck it in man ~ with no hands and arms she didn’t vote eh!
Not really ~ he’s under Secret Service protection, but he didn’t raise my estimation of him with his trash talk about the poor. BTW, check this; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2204566/Russia-diamonds-Source-Siberian-asteroid-crater-supply-world-markets-3-000-years.html diamonds just turned to a serious source of grit for sandpaper! Hope you didn’t make any big investments in this stuff.
