DOBSON BLASTS 'VICIOUS' GOP OPPOSITION TO AKIN
WND ^ | September 16, 2012 | Bob Unruh

Posted on 09/16/2012 12:13:36 PM PDT by Uncle Chip

Dr. James Dobson, whose advice about parenting, child-rearing, marriage and faith has guided millions of Americans and whose counsel on family matters has been sought by presidents, today blasted the Republican Party for abandoning a strong GOP candidate to be U.S. senator, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.

Dobson, the founder and president of Family Talk, which produces his regular radio program, “Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk,” told WND it is “disgraceful” that the “GOP political bosses” have told Akin to drop out of his race, have withdrawn financial support and publicly maligned the congressman.

“I regret to say that Congressman Akin has been subjected to disgraceful treatment at the hands of the GOP political bosses,” Dobson said. “They have withheld funds for his campaign, even though he won the GOP primary for the Senate seat. Karl Rove and Haley Barbour have said things about his character that are untrue. Their vicious opposition could get his Democratic opponent elected in his stead. That is curious since an Akin win could give the Senate majority to the Republicans.”

But he is also a moron.

That's because the mainstream press told you what to think of him, and you always believe the mainstream press because you are proud of not being one of those people who learns from his mistakes.

Ummmm, noooo, but since I live in California, the home of Free Republic, my vote for Prez doesn’t much matter. Akin apologized for his comments, will he vote for the Apologizer-in-Chief too?

Hard liners like Akin figure they can actually justify an extreme position against abortion on many grounds, chief among them, for the purposes of the interview that aroused such controversy, that a woman who’s been forcibly raped has to do nothing but let the wisdom of her own biology go to work and “shut down” and keep a fetus from developing. He is a moron and an embarrassment to the Republican Party,

Your caricature of his remarks seems to be more of an indication of your own presuppositions, agenda, and/or bias than any reasonable interpretation of what he actually said. While what he said was stated rather clumsily, if you don't think that stress, not to mention the trauma of actual rape has any effect on fertility rates then you are the one ignorant of the available scientific data on the subject. Google “stress infertility” sometime.

Todd Akin is a friend of mine who has tremendously helped me and my family, so naturally I don't appreciate your mischaracterization of his remarks here, not to mention the thinly veiled profanity directed against him by those on this thread whom you think makes so much sense.

“but I fear MO people will be afraid to do so. People in MO don’t like to be ridiculed, as the national media has done in this matter.”

Well, this Missouri resident and active voter is going to vote for Akin. I actually supported Steelman in the primary because of Palin’s endorsement of Steelman. However, the terrible treatment Akin has received has me firmly in his camp. I have sent him money three times since the bad press started. I am a SOCON and so is Akin.

BTW - The other voters here I speak with so despise McRascal, they ALL plan to vote for Akin. Except for the Dem ghetto strongholds in St. Lousis and Kansas City, I think the rest of the state will go for Akin. If it weren’t for the big city ghetto voters, Akin could easily win in the rural areas. Dems are only strong where they have large welfare constituents.

Whether you got Romney or Obama, they are essentially the same on all the issues that matter to Conservatives. So, the 2016 plans will be the same in either case.

This is the GOPe, that would rather lose the senate than see a real conservative elected.

They created the ‘controversy’ out of whole cloth, and will go down fighting.

“Btw, Akin has damaged the pro-life message. I’ve had apolitical friends ask me if all pro-life Republicans believe what Akin believes.”

Akin HAS NOT hurt the TRUE prolife message. You are a sell out if you think otherwise.

Lorianne is a shill.

“Doesn’t change the fact that Akin has made himself absolutely unelectable.. One has to wonder, why does Akin want to guarantee McCaskill the shrew’s re-election?”

What “fact” doesn’t change is that YOU with your anti-Akin rhetoric ARE DOING THE LIBERALS job for them. Shut up for crying out loud. I’m tired of psuedo pro-lifers and psuedo conservatives like yourself continuing to bad mouth this good man. Goodness, even Ronald Reagan uttered verbal mess ups. Live the man alone.

Sorry, lorraine, that's old news. Things have moved on ~ the peeps don't even remember McDonnell and the portable probes.

Something about rioting A-rabs burning our legation and such refocuses the mind

Obama said we were past those dark times ~ but he obviously lied!

Let’s get some actually intelligent people to run for the House. It already has a quorum of blithering idiots .. we don’t need more.

The irony, it burns.

So you think having a Moslem in the White Hut is no worse than having Romney.

I almost hope Ubama gets that second term, just so you get to experience Sharia Law firsthand.

I think having non-Christian presidents is an old custom ~ it' happened 3 times before with acting, practicing unitarians ~ and they've never claimed to be Christian.

So, maybe you'd like to restate what you were saying.

I submit to you that the TRUE prolife message gets you abortion on demand without parental notification up to and including the time of birth (and perhaps beyond). All of this despite the fact that most of this country does not support abortion (that's why the left has to call it "pro choice"). But most who appose abortion are a little mushy on the issue and get cold feet when the left scares them about "extremists views". The pro life movement could be much more successful if it understood this dynamic.

Moslems ain't your ordinary religion.

Islam is not a religion at all. It is a rape and mass-murder conquest cult.

It's goal is to convert or kill all Dhimmis and Kafirs.

That's you, Einstein.

Islam in Muhammad's Own Words

1400 years of jihad

No, I am not a sellout. Saying that a rape victim's body will prevent pregnancy does nothing to persuade people to our side. It makes them think we are extremist whack-jobs. Akin is not an effective advocate for the pro-life position. He hurts the pro-life cause by making an idiotic, untrue argument to support his position. He should have just said that abortion is never compassionate on behalf of the mother and especially the innocent child.

I notice you didn't actually refute anything.

You don't require actual information to base your ideas on, do you?

Want to see somebody else that is ‘retrograde and unsophisticated’? Akin is NOT alone. Wonder now how many liberals voted in Republican primaries for our nominee? After all OccupyWallStreet was designed and created for the planned for and expected GOP-e nominee.

We could spend the evening debating Islam if you wished, but that's not the point of this thread.

Obviously you haven't been around here very long ~
