DOBSON BLASTS 'VICIOUS' GOP OPPOSITION TO AKIN
WND ^ | September 16, 2012 | Bob Unruh

Posted on 09/16/2012 12:13:36 PM PDT by Uncle Chip

Dr. James Dobson, whose advice about parenting, child-rearing, marriage and faith has guided millions of Americans and whose counsel on family matters has been sought by presidents, today blasted the Republican Party for abandoning a strong GOP candidate to be U.S. senator, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.

Dobson, the founder and president of Family Talk, which produces his regular radio program, “Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk,” told WND it is “disgraceful” that the “GOP political bosses” have told Akin to drop out of his race, have withdrawn financial support and publicly maligned the congressman.

“I regret to say that Congressman Akin has been subjected to disgraceful treatment at the hands of the GOP political bosses,” Dobson said. “They have withheld funds for his campaign, even though he won the GOP primary for the Senate seat. Karl Rove and Haley Barbour have said things about his character that are untrue. Their vicious opposition could get his Democratic opponent elected in his stead. That is curious since an Akin win could give the Senate majority to the Republicans.”

I would certainly vote for Akin without hesitation, but I fear MO people will be afraid to do so. People in MO don’t like to be ridiculed, as the national media has done in this matter.

Even more amazing was that some “FPers” were as dumb as RINOs!

Everyone keep your eye on the marks: the communist Muslim in the WH and the despicable Anti-God Party Senators. If I lived in Missouri, I'd vote for a cockroach over McObamacare!!

BTW, Akins is not a cockroach!!!

It is ALL about removing Obama from office. While I agree with Dobson, this is the last thing that should be aired publicly. What is it? Rule #13? Could we not attack our own just for a few weeks? And keep our eyes on the prize?

Gad! Humans!

People in MO don’t like to be ridiculed

Wait! What? We elected a dead guy (Carahan) to be our Senator.

And then followed him with a talking pig (McCaskill).

Who says we don't have a sense of humor.

That’s why they don’t like to be ridiculed; because they already have been. I like your sense of humor. But MO people are just too predictable to vote for Akin.

I voted for Brunner and was pissed when Governor LearJet ran her ads during the primary dog-whistling the Democrats to cross over and vote for him, but Akin has demonstrated to me that he has a spine of steel, something people like Boner and McConnell have never heard of.

He can beat McCaskill. McCaskill is not his problem. His problem is that he has defied the GOPe (I'm looking at you, Tokyo Rove and Haley "Buy Your Pardon Here" Barbour) and they are out to destroy him, even if it means sacrificing the Missouri Senator seat.

What you mean is that MO election fraud is too predictable.

There are districts in the cities of KC and St. Louis that ALWAYS turn in their votes late so they know how many fraudulent votes they need to manufacture, and they are not shy about turning in more ballots than residents.

It's how they defeated concealed carry for so many years.

FU Akin. You have damaged the GOP’s election hopes for 2012, and you don’t don’t even give a damn. You’ve put your personal ambition before your country. The MO GOP made a fatal error choosing you as the nominee (with the help of McCaskill and a lot of other Rat crossover votes).

Dobson and Huckabee talked Akin into staying in the race. Why aren’t they funding him?

Dr. Dobson is confused. This has nothing to do with Congressman Akin’s political views, nor with his overall decency. This has do with some very ill advised remarks that he made that have placed him in the unelectable category.

Conservatives will vote for Akin, even if they think that his remarks were wrong and politically stupid. Republicans only enjoy a 2.3% advantage over Democrats in Missouri and that includes Republican leaning independents. Akin is going to take a bigger hit than that from true independents and from women on election day. He can’t win. His foolish behavior will likely cause us to fail in our efforts to win control of the Senate.

Finally, someone who makes sense on this thread.
When someone as retrograde and unsophisticated as Todd Akin
somehow manages to become a cause celebre for Conservatism , then the Republican Party, the VEHICLE through which we bid for and win or lose elections, becomes all the more vulnerable
to being characterized as the party of ignorant neanderthals.
Hard liners like Akin figure they can actually justify an extreme position against abortion on many grounds, chief among them, for the purposes of the interview that aroused such controversy, that a woman who’s been forcibly raped has to do nothing but let the wisdom of her own biology go to work and “shut down” and keep a fetus from developing.
He is a moron and an embarrassment to the Republican Party,
and just the kind of Republican the Democrats salivate over
meeting in a well-lit corner of political “discourse”.
I sm profoundly Pro-Life , but for reasons that make sense,
and the hardline holier-than-thou position of people like Akin and unfortunately Huckabee, who has a lot more to recommend him, does nothing but harm.

Typical GOP death wish. If a truly conservative GOP candidate seems likely to win, the self-appointed party "bosses" will be quite happy to shoot him/her out of the saddle. Small wonder that we ordinary American conservatives seldom get what we want even when the GOP controls 2 out of the 3 branches of government as it does now. Although the GOP is far more aligned with the desires of conservative voters than the defacto Socialist/Democrat party has ever been or will ever be, many GOP bigwigs oppose, at least to some degree, the application of conservative principles to many vital issues that aren't fully compatible with the party line as espoused by centrist GOP candidates.

May God Almighty who established the greatest nation that has ever existed now empower true patriots to put this nation back together after more than 2 decades of liberal and quasi-conservative governance that has prevailed ever since the Reagan administration left office. One thing is as sure as tomorrow's sunrise, GOP bigwigs who put a semi-centrist party line (if there is such a thing) above conservative principles won't be of much help in that regard.
