Thursday night in Charlotte, Barack Obama doubled down on his liberalism, articulating the case for big government, greater regulation, and more spending (which he calls investing). He defined a choice that is starkly ideological, courageously embracing the left. We have not seen such positioning since the days of Mike Dukakis and Walter Mondale. And with good reason: the American people are conservative.
Asked in a recent poll, would you rather that government get out of your way or lend you a hand? Americans voted 54% to 35% for the government to get out of the way. It was odd to watch a president commit political suicide by so brazen and overt an embrace of the 35% and a repudiation of the 54%.
While eloquent as he accepted his partys nomination, Obama failed to go after Mitt Romney in his speech and throughout the whole Democratic convention. The folks in Tampa, the Republican establishment and the conservative Congress all came in for a thrashing. Mitt Romney was not on the list in both Clinton and Obamas speeches. In fact, his name was hardly mentioned an odd occurrence in view of the over $100 million Obama has spent on ads attacking Romney.
Overall, tonight left America with the impression that Obama saved GM, killed Bin Laden, and passed ObamaCare (which most of us dont like). What a thin, thin record on which to base a plea for reelection.
The result of these two conventions is a decided advantage for Romney.
Hard to believe the country is so dumbed down that blatant socialism can win so many supporters
Link?
More evidence that it helps the elite Dems to kwwp a large segment of their base stupid and needy.

FDR won 4 times. People have always been politically stupid. It’s not that hard to sell leftist populism pretty much anywhere.
true.
Help!
You know how the media does these town hall events to measure a sample of people’s reaction to the canidate’s speeches while it’s occuring? I have not seen any of that this election. Has anyone else?
These events are not so easy to control so maybe the obamamedia did not run them this election. I don’t watch television much but have not seen anything on the internet.
Error check to my reply: free stuff not fee stuff.
It's the same question forever. Can a man be eloquent if he makes your skin crawl when he talks?
Gallup has a huge pop for Obama, so not sure what needle Dick is watching.

I read several threads here on FR on Friday about how Axelrod had threatened Gallup because they put out some poll results a couple of months ago that showed Romney leading Obama.
Also keep in mind that Gallup only does registered voters and weights the results in favor of Dems. Gallup is useless, IMO. I trust Rasmussen polls much more.
Products of public education where everyone gets A’s, everyone gets a trophy. No one loses ever. The leap to “shared prosperity” is not that far. Unless you ask them to give their A away. Then it’s not fair.
