You’re absolutely correct; that’s why it’s important, when using in-ear monitors or cans, to really pay attention to the volume.
Of course, being yer typical rock guitar slinger, I tend to have ‘em WAY too loud. :)
I’ve also heard many singers sing slightly flat, if the “cans” are up too loud.
