Talk about sticky-fingered thieves. They've struck in Quebec, snatching millions of dollars worth of maple syrup from a warehouse in Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, between Montreal and Quebec City.
Up to 10 million pounds of syrup was in the warehouse, according to a statement from the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, which bills itself as keeper of the global strategic maple syrup reserve.

Theory: There never was 15,000 barrels of maple syrup, it was all paper fiction, and someone just cashed in.
Election coming up anywhere?
Insurance fraud is my thought. How exactly do you steal 15000 barrels of syrup ? Where do you get the stainless steel tanker trucks to transport it ? Then who do you sell that much syrup to ?
follow the money
LOL!!!
That's a sticky question that might require a little waffling.
Be glad you don’t invest in maple syrup because your stocks just crashed hard.
I can just picture a bunch of thieves looking at each other in their hideout saying âNow what?â.
Is that a news story or the plot to a Dudley Dooright cartoon?
You're probably right. Who would take the time to empty the barrels of this sticky stuff. Why not just take the barrels fully loaded???
They have probably been empty for quite some time or never were full of maple syrup.
And this theft just so happens to take place when they are going to move them into a new facility???
Uh -huh??? Where's Columbo when you need him???
Pancakes, anyone?
All pointless now that their location has been compromised.
If you like converting $40/gal into $4/gal at a cost of $3/gal.
This will simply be sold back onto the market this fall. No different than if a few hundred truck loads of corn were stolen.
When Prohibition began, Jack Daniels was required to send their entire inventory to a bonded warehouse in St. Louis.
Several years later, Federal Inspectors decided they wanted to take advantage of their position to imbibe the good stuff and tapped one of the barrels ...... and found it was full of water. Continued investigation revealed that all of the whisky in all of the barrels had been replaced with water. Lets just say that they were mighty angry.

One of the sporting goods catalog was actually selling "tactical bacon" recently. I just chuckled away.
Jack Daniel story exemplary ! Let’s hope the Mounties figure this riddle out.
