How do you make a city look like Detroit? Hmm...
To: KingOfVagabonds
Detroit is too dangerous to film in probably. It’s far too run down for a post-apocalyptic film.

The original Robocop was filmed in Dallas.

Well, to be fair, quite a bit of the original Robocop was filmed in Dallas, Texas.

Give it a Democrat mayor and city council and it’ll be looking like Detroit in no time.
Seriously.
Detroit is STILL too shitty to use in a movie about a “future” Detroit that’s decayed and dying?
That really says something.

Hamilton’s a nice city - a huge Muslim population, but a nice city.

Hollywood armor doesn't stop real Detroit bullets.
And don't think of filming anything short of a remake of "Battle of the Bulge" in Chicago.

I would not be surprised if it was less costly on insurance, craft services, lodging, and other expenses that rack up quickly outside of Detroit.

As bad as Hamilton is (I live less than an hour's drive away), making it look like Detroit will be a huge job and will probably require some heavy-duty CGI. There is ONE street here in Toronto that looks like Detroit but it's only a block long.

Canada Ping!

Yeah, it’s not like there is a whole bunch of empty space available in Detroit. Give ‘em one of those neighborhoods slated to be bulldozed and have at it!

Ive been to Hamilton..
Its a college town...
and SOOOOOOO much cleaner than Willard’s home town...

Previous Dallas and Houston (and another city) had been used to “simulate” Detroit.
Nothing new here.

I’m tired of “reboots” (they don’t even bother to call them remakes anymore).
Hollywood is out of ideas. Stick a fork in it and let the Democrats find another source of money to run for office.
