Federals cannot suspend state elections. Elections are held at the state level.
Like Stalin, Mao, Castro, Mugabe?
A Civil War with the country split in 2 did not even delay 2 Presidential and 3 Congressional elections.
I heard all this back when Clinton was president too. Same conspiracy, different year.
Hunger Games as an equivalent? I watched it the other night, thought it was rather silly and not even that entertaining.
I would not doubt it if ZERO tries it!!
Øbama doenst have the balls to try this.
Dont make me drive to DC and straighten him out...
One way to delay an election is for the NAACP to come in at the last minute and sue states like Alabama that had districts redrawn by Republicans for violating the Voting Rights Act. Far fetched? Just ask the folks down in Evergreen who won the local elections a few weeks back. They will tell you that the election was put on hold because someone wanted a council district line moved over by one street because it violated their rights. Can they do it nationally? Who knows, but messing with the elections on a larger level is within the realm of possibilities. They may not stop the elections, but they can create confusion to keep turnout down.
This was the same crap posted by the Left in 2004 and 2008. It’s straight alarmist BS and the idea that anyone would believe this is actually going to happen is pretty silly.
Will there be cheating? Sure.
Will some people vote twice? Sure
Will some ballots not get counted or others get counted twice? Sure.
But suspending the election? No way.
Judge Alex Kozinski
James Taggart’s response to ‘Directive 10-289’: “...we’ve got to ‘stop’ in order to move forward’...
We didn’t postpone elections during the civil war or during WWI or WWII for that matter did we? So why, praytell would we postpone them now? Even if there’s a nuclear bomb blast in the middle east or another 911. We still vote. MOre reason to vote.
The Kenyan can only suspend the elections if the Congress, the Courts, and the rest of the nation allow him to. Unfortunately the Congress, the courts, and the rest of the nation have already granted him dictatorial powers by not questioning his right to rule by decree. There are complaints about the content of his EO/Edicts but not a peep from anyone about his right to issue and enforce them. This does not bode well, even if the kenyan chooses to accept a loss and steps down in November. That right of decreeexists and will still exist and WILL BE USED by whoever is the President because there was/is NO opposition before the completion of the term of the one who institutionalized it. On the other hand if the kenyan simply stays in office by Executive Order, I think there will be a huge outcry that he has done that but there will still be acceptance of it as a fait accompli. That is the truly dangerous situation in the country. There is no danger of the president becoming a Dictator. He already is. He has total power through the Congressionally sanctioned- because not congressionally denied- Executive Orders. And if there is a next president he will be effectively a dictator also for the same reason. We have already given up representative government.
