same.
PC b.s. turns me off and i avoid it like the plague
now that is a really stupid comment.. why would you stop watching if they have a female Time Lord?
ping
Ive been wondering about this kind of twist for some time. It might be interesting.
I think it would be a cool twist. They have already hinted that it has happened before in several seasons. They also have an open storyline out there with the Dr.’s clone/daughter who is a Time Lord.
Doctor Whim.
They had a female time lord in the Tom Baker era, Romana, so nothing new about a time lady. It does seem to screw with the character too much for my taste to have him go transsexual with regeneration. Not that it matters as I was turned off already by the other pervert crap like the queer assistant who was hitting on The Doctor and Rose at the in succession. I will keep watching my campy 60s-80s era Doctor Who.
Jon pertwee is my Doctor. They’ve threatened this every time since then but in these PC days it may happen. i wouldn’t watch it if they made that change.
Well, the idea that it COULD happen was established last season in the episode “The Doctor’s Wife”. Eleven mentioned another Time Lord, “The Corsair”, who had a female regeneration. And of course, there was Romana, and the unnamed Time Lady from the fourth season.
But just because it COULD happen doesn’t mean it SHOULD. If DW decides to go all Torchwood on us, it’ll mean the decline of the show. Russell T. Davies deserves credit for bringing back the series, but the subtle LGBT nudges got a little ridiculous by the fourth season.
With Steve Moffat at the helm, the scripts and characters have improved, especially the team of Moffat and Gatiss who have collaborated on other projects (ie. “Sherlock”).
If Eleven regenerates as a woman, I’ll see how the scripts pan out. If the writing team keeps to the standards we’ve seen in the past, DW is a keeper. But if they follow Torchwood’s path, then I’m gone.
I agree. I have enough difficulty adjusting each time the Dr regenerates. I loved the chemistry between Christopher Eccelston and Billie Piper then David Tennant took over and his relationship with “Rose” didn’t work for me. Let’s just hope they don’t bring in a Dr with a love interest like say Capt Jack Harkness.
Matt Smith took a while to get used to, but he is turning into a decent Doctor Who.
After Tennant decided to quit, there were rumors that his replacement might be a female. That was probably a trial balloon.
A female Doctor Who might work, but it might also be a way to destroy the Doctor Who franchise. Other franchises have found ways to destroy themselves.
I’d be okay with a lady timelord if she had huge t...tracts of land.
And she wouldn't be the first -- they've had female Time Lords before. They've even had them in this incarnation of the series, in David Tennant's finale. One of whom, if you read background material outside the show, is supposed to be the Doctor's mother.
If they can regenerate into opposite genders, it totally changes the concept of having children (or even falling in love, like with Rose). And, speaking as a math teacher, if switching genders is a possibility, how come it hasn't happened yet in 10 regenerations? It should have been more likely than that, maybe even more likely than being ginger.
I’ll watch IF AND ONLY IF a new regenerated female DW has the appearance of Amy Pond...Or a regenerated female DW is hot and Amy Pond returns as her....assistant....complete with ...tension of a...se....
Oh never mind. I must go look for pics of Amy...
For your ping list.
