Who is responsible for Todd Akin's words on abortion, Todd Akin or the GOPe?

The most common causes of failure to ovulate are:
Stress, weight fluctuations, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (P.C.O.S.). Other causes may include disorders of the pituitary gland, thyroid gland and raised prolactin levels.

In conclusion, acute stress on the day of proestrus can affect female reproductive physiology. Moreover, the angiotensinergic system, through AT(1) receptors, participates in the effects of acute stress in the morning of proestrus.

Animal breeding also is affected by stress. Zoos, in particular, have difficulty getting some animals to reproduce in captivity, Bentley said.
Based on animal experiments, researchers attribute much of this stress effect on sexual function to an increase in glucocorticoids - stress hormones - produced by the adrenal gland. In the brain, these glucocorticoids suppress the main reproductive hormone, GnRH, which in turn causes a shut-down of the release of the gonadotropins luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone by the pituitary, and then a suppression of testosterone, estradiol and sexual behavior.
In 2000, however, a new reproductive hormone was discovered in birds and dubbed gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone (GnIH) because it had the opposite effect of GnRH - it inhibited release of gonadotropins, thereby suppressing reproduction.
Its very adaptive to not be wasting resources on reproduction during times of acute stress, to just shut down reproduction for 24 hours or so until the stress is gone, said co-author Daniela Kaufer, a UC Berkeley assistant professor of integrative biology who looks at how stress affects molecular processes in the brain. These functions go back in evolution a long way.
. . ..
Kirby showed that acutely stressed rats showed increased RFRP levels for several hours, but that levels returned to normal by the next day. Chronically stressed rats, however, were left with longer-term elevations of RFRP levels in the dorsomedial hypothalamus area of the brain, and suppression of activity in the reproductive axis - the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal hormone cascade - that is associated with lowered sexual activity.
The hyperventilation by the GOPe has caused me to donate $ to a man I was critical of only a few days ago.
You should not bother these folks with facts. The have already responded to the Pavlovian stimuli provided by the media.
Are u nuts???...are u saying independents and conservatives will vote for a wild ass liberal because of the GOP-e pick ??
and AGAIN!..Sarah picked the best candidate for “Saving America!”...it was the GOP-e that missed it!...Sarah saw it coming!
I guess biology is a little too much for people who don’t know the different definitions of ‘legitimate.’
... a deal could have been worked out for him to exit the race gracefully and, perhaps, even allow him to go back and run for his old House seat. <<<
JEEEEEEZ!!!!...u believe in spoils at the public trough????...Whats wrong with going back to a REAL JOB! ....YOUR NOT A CONSERVATIVE!!...THINK ABOUT WHAT U SAID??,,HONEST!
Does that make it any simpler for ya???? Sarah already vetted the candidates...who was right...Her of the GOP-e??????
and yet the GOP-e backed him!!!..Do you understand that????????
I'm no fan of the GOP-e....but AKIN fired the fatal bullet to his head!!!...I think you're the brainwashed buffoon!...his ignorance cost him a sure win!...He vetted himself!... (Sarah vetted both Steelman and Akin...Who was right??)
Yeah, well here we are and we are stuck with Akin. That is who the majority of Missourians voted to DEFEAT Clarie. And given it was his own tongue that got US here, to this state of confusion, the objective before Akin still remains, defeat Claire.
I have no clue in this 'swing' state as to which direction the majority will follow. So when handed a lemon make some lemonade.
Alllll you Akin supporters put up or shut up, Akin needs money and lots of it, work hard for your candidate.
...and the good thing is Sarah has already vetted Steelman!
Do you live in Missouri? If you do you would know that Dems crossed party lines in large numbers to vote in Akin because McCaskill preferred to run against him. Did she know he would self-destruct almost immediately? Now, due to the Missouri “sore loser” law the other two viable PRO-LIFE Republican candidates are eliminated from running as third party candidates.
But even if they weren’t, splitting the vote would probably give the election to McCaskill. Before the primary, the polls showed her losing to any one of the three Republicans. Now, because of Akin’s error and obstinacy, we are stuck with him unless he withdraws. I hope God can forgive Akin if McCaskill wins...I won’t.
Let him who has never mis-spoken throw the first stone.
No I don’t, I’m in Florida.
But listen, those of you who do live in Missoura, it’s completely up to you and no one else who wins.
You can allow the communist traitor to win, or you can allow the conservtive who made a mistake and asked for forgiveness to win.
The choice is yours, and it always was.
And a very clear choice it is.
Freedom or slavery.
It is literally the easiest choice that I have ever seen in my entire life.
If the people of Missoura are stupid enough to vote away their freedom, then they do not deserve to have it, and they will take the rest of the country with them most likely.
So, here we come to the final American election.
The final American election.
1. Pretty much nobody outside Missouri who wasn’t a massive political geek would know or care who Todd Akin was, let alone talk or write about him for a week, if Akin were minimally coherent.
2. The American right survived the loss of folks like Ronald Reagan, William F. Buckley and Andrew Breitbart. We feel the loss and still do, but we survived. We could survive losing folks like Mark Steyn or Sarah Palin. We’d feel the loss, but we’d survive. If we could move on after losing the lives of talents like that, we could merely lose Todd Akin’s services without breaking step or stopping to mourn. Yeah, I’m sure he’s a great guy and all, but if Brunner or Steelman or any of the old pros being bandied about or even any number of rank-and-filers couldn’t step in and be just as much a lovely person (or more so), just as solid on the issues (or more so) and less likely to be Mayhem from Allstate for Senate, the Missouri GOP has bigger problems than “the establishment”.
Form’s all wrong. He’s missing about 35% of his power. Maybe more.
Ah, shut up and go back to DU, newby.
Are you *trying* to get McCaskill reelected?
Jim Robinson is pro-Akin. You should be too, jerk.
Never would I vote for McCaskill! I am trying to get people who support Akin (who McCaskill helped get elected) to realize that it is not worth risking the senate seat to support one inept man who is too arrogant to withdraw.
We have excellent conservative pro-life candidates that could run in his place and win.
If he stays in, I pray he wins, because it could be devastating to the nation if the Dems succeed. If we lose this senate seat, I am going to blame someone.
Jim — could you just ban this asshole? His anti-Republican antics don’t belong on your site.
