MALIBU (CBSLA.com) A transient was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly killing a pelican with his bare hands.
Sergio Alvarez, 30, is facing felony animal cruelty charges and is being held on $20,000 bail, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department said.
While on patrol around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy was flagged down by a witness near the Malibu Pier in the 23000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, officials said.
The witness said Alvarez had a pelican by its throat and was choking with both hands.
Witnesses told deputies the pelican flapped its wings in distress until its body went limp and died, Lt. Robert Wiard said.
Alvarez, who is known to frequent the Malibu Pier area, was arrested.
He said he was hungry. And he found the bird dead and was going to eat it, sheriffs Sgt. Michael Holland.
Personnel from the California Wildlife Center took possession of the dead pelican.
May your sister be eaten by a ravenous squirrel and pecked to death by an angry goose.
The only reason I allow them to continue their vandalizing lives is that when the SHTF I am going to love them.
May your sister, mother, wife and significant other be eaten by a ravenous squirrel and pecked to death by an angry goose.
Well if that happens, someone else will get to eat fatter geese and squirrels.
Please post those again on tomorrow’s sillines thread!
Canadian Geese!!!!????? I hate Canadian Geese. Rats with wings in the suburbs! I'd like to see my dog catch one. I'd cook it for her and feed it to her. The dropping they leave look like yard plugs. God knows what diseases their feces harbor in the mass quantities they leave.
They should make migration of Canadian Geese illegal and sue Canada for not keeping their vermin out of my retention pond and yard. I don't know what they taste like, but the pet food industry could make good use of the plentiful renewable supply of these nuisances. By the way, why do they still call them "migratory" birds. The SOBs now live here in the Midwest all year long. I think a 3rd generation of squatting Geese set up a mailbox near our neighborhood retention pond. The only good thing about the overpopulation of fat-rat-winged-honkers is the fox around here seem to be getting fat and multiplying.
Rant over for now....
Some pelicans just need killin’
Apparently choking your bird is still prohibited in Malibu. Who knew?
