Anyone here ever use Angie's List? looking for a sheetrocker to install a 12x16 ceiling.
thus far, CraigsList is full of nuts and shysters and people who think you're crazy for asking for references from prior jobs.
good idea. I may also post a note on the church bulletin board.
“I was totally turned off because the site requires you to enter your e-mail address before you register. Then it informs me that its a pay service. It would have been nice to know that before I was forced to give away info.”
I had the EXACT same reaction a number of years ago, and I’m still angry about it. You spend a bunch of time on their site, as they draw you closer and closer, then they say, out of nowhere PAY UP!!!! I left them then, and never came back.
YES! I’ve used several companies found on Angie’s List.
I saw a handyman on Angie’s List I used through my realtor and he was TERRIBLE. Unfortunately, if you give a bad review to a company, Angie’s List will reveal to the company who gave the negative feedback. I didn’t write anything because I live alone and the guy ended up really, really creepy and a druggie. He’s definitely someone I don’t want a possible confrontation with. I’ve complained several times to AL about this but to no avail.
I want to say fifty a year, but can’t recall at the moment. just go to the web site, it’ll give the details.
i have used them to find electricians, roofers, a paving company for a new driveway...but they have lots of other categories.
Oh yeah- I have had MANY bad contractors- I used to own 14 apartment units so I always looking for reliable people to work- out of about 50 contractors I used, there are only two that I still call back on a regular basis
I had one morong who wanted to charge $800 to put in a hot water heater- after he started the job he told me it would be more expensive and would cost $1,100.
I told him he was basically going to spend about 4 hours of time putting in a unit I could buy myself for $230 and so what was the extra cost for? If he could not do it for the price he gave me then take his stuff and go.
So the dumbass hooked up the hot water to the toilets
Fortunately he left his toolbox there- I told him to fix it if he wanted them back and gave him only the tools he needed until the job was finished
I can’t believe how much money Angie’s list must spend on advertising- their commercials are all over the place
It would have been a great one.
I have a ranch-style house with a low roof and my insulation is that white cellulose they spay all around. SO, I cannot see the joists very well. I was almost there and my foot slipped and went through the ceiling into the den.
My daughter was napping directly under me and she screamed and shouted some expletives for which she was forgiven. She and the couched were covered with that white insulation.
I did the same thing the other day, put in my email and then went to next page about paying. I was surprised - no where do they say that until... So I didn’t proceed. Next thing I get is an email from them. They are dishonest, I hate dishonesty and sneaky tactics.
