People may still be excited about going on their summer holidays, but for Doctor Who, it's Christmas already. Matt Smith was spotted filming scenes for the festive episode in Bristol late last night (Monday) and it seems that he's gone back in time. Wearing a large top hat and an old-fashioned suit, the actor was transported back to the 1890's along with his co-star Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Replace the Nutcracker with a Dalek!
I would snog that.
Really brilliant to write a show that contains ever shifting actors as part of the script.
Amy Pond is still my favorite.
Lol, but it is missing a Stetson
What! No hoodie! The Doctor must be a racist.
It my understanding that the original writers created the Doctor's "regeneration" in an act of desperation when the actor who played the first doctor retired unexpectedly in the middle of a season because of deteriorating health. The public bought it, and it's been used ever since. I remember watching the show back in the late 1970's when Tom Baker was the doctor, it was on PBS about midnight during their "British Programming Block" which consisted of Benny Hill, Monty Python and Dr. Who (Until I was a teenager I thought those where the only three shows on British TV!)
Its nice to have a great sci fi show without wildly overdone special effects.
You must be thinking of the Doctor Who of old. The more recent series’ have gone nuts with the CGI since the days when Tom Baker was the Doctor...
In the Season 7 episode list, Amy (Karen Gillan) is still listed as appearing in the first 5 episodes. Jenna-Louise Coleman doesn't start being listed until episode 10.
I watch the new series with my Amazon prime account. I just finished season 1 where Christopher Eccelston was replaced with David Tennant. Can’t say I have warmed up to the new Dr Who but I will continue to watch even though the first two episodes were horrible.
Actually, Jenna-Louise Coleman will make her first appearance in the Christmas special, but doesn’t join the regular series until later in the season. The last episode for the Ponds will be episode 5, as you noted.
I fell head over heals for Amelia. Never really cared for other Who girls, or redheads for that matter, but she is something special. The actress is super cute to begin, and her portrayal of Amy is a marvelous mixture. Long live Amy Pond!
“Head over HEELS” of course. Auto Spell check #*/*+@*/!
The Doctor seriously damaged Amy Pond.
Tells her he’ll be back in a few minutes and disappears for 12 years only to come back and disappear for another 2 years.
I loved and hated the episode where the Dr and Rory left her at that hospital for 40 years. She was touching as an aging, bitter Amy with a sword. I teared up when Rory had to choose between old and young Amy.
And then to top that off, her daughter gets taken from her and winds up marrying the Doctor. That's GOT to mess up any woman's head.
