That said, posting a link to one's own blog can be considered bad form around here. (but not always)
You might find an Un-welcome mat rolled out for you?
I take it you know nothing of the culture here?
We've had much experience with people promoting blogs on this site. We are not here to be blog "customers" or guinea pigs for your own advantage or amusement. Toying with bloggers trying to get us to look at their stuff however, is one form of OUR own amusement.
Try to imagine it from our perspective. Think you can hang with this crowd? Maybe you can, maybe you can't.
But you did claim the blog was your own, which helps a little, in my own estimation. (some others have come here and refused to admit or deny the thing they were promoting was their own).
Often what we see is a "teaser", then a link to 'read more at'.
We call that blog-pimping, trolling for "hits".
That's sort of a no-no, too, if not the best way to piss off a certain cadre.
Since bloggers own their own content, there is no real need to excerpt (provided the content to be appropriate for this forum) since there could be no potential copy-write violations for them to post content here. Which means you could post the whole thing here...
If you were trying to save space and clutter here, by not posting it, or if you were trying not to be rude by posting the whole thing, then I could see how one could think that. And I'd appreciate the thought.
If it be too lengthy, like page after page, then edit, trim, or use something like [snip] to denote cuts & "jumps", giving us some intro, the key points in the body, and some form of summation.
Look around in some of the other forums a bit, to help get a feel for the place. If you believe the content to be of possible wide interest here, then try posting an entire blog entry. They may hate it, they may like it, who knows?
But do not assume the culture here accepts blog entries the same way they may accept other informational formats. (we chew those up for breakfast).
Contributions from the online "Examiner" (if you are familiar with how that works) are frequently sneered at, looked upon as the vanity publishing of the "news" realm. Blogs are considered much lower in esteem than that. They are -- bottom of the barrel until proven otherwise.
And yes, I know. How can you prove yourself if we won't even look? I see others have looked, and gave it decent reviews, but I won't, until I see something else, a bit something more.
That is the conundrum you yourself must first figure out. I'm taking the time here to give you some hints...
There is truly nothing new under the sun. What would be found at your "blogger" page, that has not been said elsewhere before, even over and over? Can you tell me that in five sentences or less?
You are welcome to stick around but I must warn you, this can be tough crowd (as I see you have already noticed?) and you must have some thickness to your hide --- or grow it quickly. Don't be prickly or "sensitive" if you can at help it. Yet one need not bow & scrape either. Hold onto your dignity, just don't be whiny or worse ---snooty--- while trying to demand respect. If they try yanking your chain -- just smile. If your stuff is good enough, it will earn enough respect -- just beware of being baited into losing your cool, and thus losing what respect which otherwise could be your due.
Straightforwardness and honesty however, can buy one enough grace, to help carry one through.
We don't necessarily need a full life's story. You can simply stick with whatever it is you wish to be saying.
But you have to tell us something true. Opinions we have plenty enough of already, and can find a fair number from valued sources, which we then bring here. Think you can run with the big dogs? Maybe...
If you are seeking acceptance & praise -- you may well find it, even here.
If you want analysis of the sort which will search for the good and the bad, and tell you the truth (it might be lots of bad news mixed in with some good) then you may have found that too. Yet that takes more work, and is often not much appreciated when effort is made to be thorough. I should charge by the hour.
So what will it be? Some content here, from yourself, or not? You didn't even give us a clue as to subject matter. That sort of thing reminds me of craigslist info-scam hustlers.
So tell us, just who are you?
