Fox News. Between Joe Trippi and Carl Rove. Rove states that Obama holds 271 electoral votes but Romney holds only 182 electoral votes. "If the election were held today, Obama would win."
We have not even had the convention yet and people like Rove are making election predictions. People won’t be seriously thinking about the election until after Labor Day.
RCP uses a ton of crap polls in their average.
Rove’s shaking the money tree for the RNC.
So a) Intrade was BADLY off on the Obamacare USSC decision, and b) Romney gained 5points on Intrade Fter the Ryan pick.
I recall in ‘06 Boehner would go to the White House and tell W he was worried about a certain congressional district and W would call for the “turd” and he would come in with a computer print out of why the GOP would win. It didn’t wasnt true
You guys really do need to go to DU. Suits defeatists soooo much better.
What percentage would we estimate are those who were proving they weren’t racist and thought they were making up for a lifetime of using the N word by voting for Obama last time?
On election day 2008, some FREEPERS were calling everyone idiots when they did the final analysis that Obama was going to win. FREEPERS did not believe it. In fact, when Pennsylvania results came in that Obama received the electoral, they called people liars. It was pretty amazing.
The polls which show Romney ahead probably are tallying person by person, and may be correct. Electoral votes are what Rove is talking about.
Agreed.
It’s a long time to November. The international scene is very dangerous. The Ryan pick requires a discussion of Zero’s record and his future plans to spend even more money.
Be of good heart and continue the fight.
But he was a magnificent bastard just a few years ago.....
Does anyone think Romney is going to campaign better than he did last week, before Ryan. This week is about as good as it gets.
He’s like Grima Wormtongue - brilliant.
“RCP uses a ton of crap polls in their average.”
Is there an advantage then (psychological) in making conservatives believe we’re losing? Or is the point to make the dems overly confident?
Could Rove believe it’s a sound strategy to keep Romney down until after the convention, or right up to November? Has he discovered over the years that this strategy drives the base?
No matter what’s being put out there by the commentators, I believe both campaigns know the internals and they’re not good for “the won.” I suppose we’ll see soon enough.
Obama has the Freepers for Obama contingent wrapped up well.
But nine of those were a national election like this one is. I sincerely hope I’m wrong and Romney wins by 6-8 points. But, I see far too many people wanting “their” perfect candidate and will take their proverbial “ball and go home.”
Your 1996 example actually makes my point. “It’s the economy, stupid” was absolutely true — back then, just like it is now. This is a far different economic and political climate now than we had then.
Seeing some of the stuff on FR will leave that impression, but do you know any conservatives like that in your real life? because i do not. all of the conservatives i know are praying for the defeat of Obama and will do whatever it takes to bring it about. the election is no sure thing either way, and i think assuming you are behind and working ass off right up til election day is the only prudent course.
Keep in mind that people like Karl Rove now make a career as a talking head and political pundit. He and his employers (Fox News, for example) have a major financial stake in making this race seem as close as possible even if it’s not. He’d probably call it a “toss-up” between Obama and Romney even if Obama wasn’t running for re-election.
