They were never expected to survive beyond a few days. But conjoined twins Abigail and Brittany Hensel have not only proved doctors wrong, they have astonished them with their development into darling children, typical teenagers and, lately, beautiful young adults. Now the 22-year-olds, who share one body fused at the torso, will be starring in their own reality TV show chronicling their graduation from Bethel University in Minnesota, their post-grad job search and their travels through Europe with friends.

I recall seeing them on a TV show a couple of years back, and they were darling.
I guess that TV has taken the place of circus freak shows!
The one on the left is cute
They were the subject of a TLC show when they turned 16. The family lives in a small town west of Minneapolis and they attended a Lutheran high school. Doctors would love to study how they coordinate their activities as they have separate brains, but the girl's parents refused them to be studied like lab rats.
Hmm... interesting circumstances.
Two stomachs but one liver. So if even one of them drinks too much, they both feel it.
They want to marry two different men, but they have one uterus. Would make child bearing difficult. Which one would get morning sickness?
I wonder, if they went out for wings and one got hot while the other got mild, would they both get indigestion?
I also wonder, if they have two hearts, do they share a circulatory system? If one heart failed, would the other pick up the load? Is it like a failover system in the IT world. “Disaster recovery?”
Yes, that's why they have survived and are athletic. Without two hearts pumping the strain on one would have been fatal.
And 4 lungs!
Hopefully, they have the same taste in fashion.
Speaking of freak shows, did anyone watch Honey Boo Boo last night on TLC?
PLEASE!! Spare me!
How crude, vulgar and mindless is TV programming going to get?
Please, please no more realty shows.
It’s hard to believe that it hasn’t reached it’s bottom yet.
I’m almost afraid to put the TV on anymore, because I remember how raunchy and disgusting it was the LAST time I looked! (Commercials AND programming)
Actually, the programming is an assault on your senses and an affront to your sensibilities.
Right! Where will it end, but I hate to think what that will be.
Paging Zaphod Beeblebrox. Paging Zaphod Beeblebrox.
Please everyone, have some compassion for these two young women. Ease up on the “freak show” talk until you experience how sweet they are.

Thank you for posting that video. I hope after viewing it the people that called them freaks will understand that they were two little girls confronted with an enormous obsticle and how they overcame it with grace, dignity, and a loving and supportive family.
You’re welcome. I’ll never forget when I first saw that video on TV. It completely changed my perspective on what this must be like for them. The whole family seemed to be very genuine people, and quite frankly they reminded me of my own parents and siblings.
Obviously they’re going to have challenges in the way they make a living for themselves, but you never get the sense that they’ve ever considered NOT earning their own way through life. With two independent brains and arms, they’ve even got a few advantages, and I pray for them that they learn to leverage those advantages.
