Battered GOP Voter Syndrome
RWWN ^ | 8/7/2012 | John Alan

“Ok so he cheats on you and mistreats you, do you really want to raise the kids on your own?”

'Battered GOP voter syndrome' is exactly the same. “Yeah the GOP's candidate ran to the left of Ted Kennedy, signed socialized medicine into law and proclaimed his views to be progressive, do you really want to cause the destruction of the entire planet by allowing Obama to be reelected?”

Support the significant lesser of the two evils, or be an enabler of the far greater of the two evils. Those are our choices.

Dumb analogy for so many reasons. Not the least being, a battered woman has a whole world of alternatives, we have only Romney or Obama. The truth is attacking Romney at this point is just shilling for Obama.

Let me guess - he really loves you, and he only hits you because he's under a lot of pressure at work, right?

Don’t worry, Romney will win...and I’ll still have my self respect. People like me are a tiny minority, strict-constructionist conservatives, and we’ve already accepted defeat.

^ THIS ^ I live in one of the deep, deep bluest cities of all the deep, deep bluest states EVER; and there's simply no earthly way any Mittbot -- no matter how desperately they troll -- can conceivably guilt me into surrendering my lone, principled vote when Mittens' odds of actually carrying Seattle are appreciably less than those of Janeane Garofalo winning the Miss Universe pageant next year.

“That’s what happens when you demand an absolutely perfect, flawless candidate.”

No. I expect that real Conservatives don’t bend and sway to fit the current condition. You’re a Conservative or you aren’t. If you vote for a liberal, you aren’t.

The proposition that a Conservative should have to demand a Conservative candidate is mind-boggling.

Frankly, my opinion is that Mr. Robinson should call off the truce with Mittens voters. This site is for Conservatives.

How many Congresscritters and how many Senators would that take? Remember, there would have to be enough willing to buck Romney and their Party. I do not believe there are enough running to do that.

As a start, it would require 60 Senators, not counting many of the Liberal/Moderate ones in there now. I would feel much better if I thought your plan had a chance of success.

Not voting in this election will just make Obama's chances of a second term that much more likely.

"Not voting? Is he calling up a strawman?"

we have only Romney or Obama.

Well that was a dumb statement on your part.

We have a Conservative in the race. If Conservatives vote for the Conservative rather than doing the cheese eating surrender monkey thing and going along with whatever Chris Wallace tells them to do, then We'll have a shot at putting a Conservative in the White House rather than flaming liberals like mitt and obie.

We have a Conservative in the race.

This is the first I've heard of this.

Who? And does he/she have a snowball's chance in hell of winning? And has he/she not said the he/she has no interest in running and/or endorsed Romney?

I don't mean for this to sound snarky or rude, I'm genuinely curious.

Well that was a dumb statement on your part. We have a Conservative in the race.

Third (and 4th, 5th, etc.) party candidates have zero chance of winning, threfore they are not actual alternatives. The next president will be either Obama or Romney, because conservatives could not put forward a candidate who could get a plurality of Republican votes, let alone the general electorate.

Like I said, attacking Romney at this point is just shilling for Obama.

You are correct, laws don’t matter to Obama, and Obama is only going to jack things up more! Obama is going to impose so many regulations over the next 4 years that it will take a decade to untangle the mess! If Romney even SLOWS down the implementing of Obama care it will be a major achievement!

Ronald Reagan had some words for you "dogma uber alles" purists. You people are the Democrats best allies. You are so busy shooting your own in the back you never have any time to fight the Democrats on anything. You people are progressive Democrats in everything but name.

By Ronald Reagan in his autobiography An American Life

“When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn’t like it. “Compromise” was a dirty word to them and they wouldn’t face the fact that we couldn’t get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don’t get it all, some said, don’t take anything. I’d learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: ‘I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.’ If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that’s what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it.”

Your response is itself symptomatic. You only *think* you have two options

And your post shows you live in a fantasy world.

It's better if I get 100% of what I oppose politically rather then get 75-80% of what I want politically.

That is your purists position. It is idiotic and self defeating. GROW up, nothing in life is ever going to be 100% perfect. Running around scream hysterically because the world isn't perfect is childish and self defeating.

You people are the useful idiots the Democrats count on election after election.

“If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for,”

Asking for a Conservative candidate without a record of promoting abortion, homo marriage, gun grabbing and a socialist health care system.

It’s gotten so bad that asking for this is considered “progressive Democrat”? On Free Republic? Pffft. What a joke. You’re voting for liberal. I’m not.
