Damn, he was about to record a comeback album on the Def Jam label. Pity.

Another one of those "I thought he died a long time ago" moments. RIP

Technically, I believe he was the last surviving ‘adult male’ who actually starred in a film from the 1930s (he headlined a few minor 20th-Century Fox b-films around 1937-38 or so). Mickey Rooney starred in films back then, but was still a juvenile. Still a few surviving 1930s actresses, though.

I always thought he was Italian. He sure looked it. For those who didn’t read the article, he was Jewish.

I read the headline and thought, "Romantic crooner? Wasn't he in Black Sabbath?" Then I saw the age; I'm obviously thinking of a different Tony Martin.

I do hope that Willie Nelson did manage to record a duet with Tony before he died!

Prayers for his friends and family members. He was a very talented singer with a gorgeous voice... Very impressive even to this “young’un” (who isn’t really young anymore at 40! LOL)
RIP Tony Martin - hope you’re having some fun up in heaven with all your buds.

That whole group of entertainers where just that, entertainers. They sang, danced, acted, did stand up, whatever. Their talents dwarf anything we have today. They loved the stage and their fans. They worked hard and long hours for years. I respect them for that.
