Our cat Leopold had to be put to sleep. He had a severe bladder problem that couldn't be taken care of. It's a major problem for male cats.
Does anyone here have any ideas on how to cope with such a loss? I'm so heartbroken.
> But you just have to face the fact that cats only live for about 15 years.
We had one die a few years ago. He was 24. He got to the point of having almost daily heart attacks.
It was traumatic when we had to put him down.
Our other cat who died a year later was 19. He’d swallowed a pine cone whole and it messed up his insides.
We currently have 2 cats. Both were adult shelter cats. We figured kittens are easy to adopt out for the shelter, but not the older ones.
The only time I've ever seen one recover is my boy cat. We put him on reverse osmosis water that actually pulls minerals out of the body.

I am so sorry.
Thank you.
Sorry, powers, but it was an animal. I lost my dog ( her dog actually) 6 months ago, but it does not compare to losing a wife of 28 years... Not being cruel, just depressed today after reading FR today..
I feel for ya, not for sure you can reciprocate... I still struggle everyday with what I lost...

So sorry for this; you are in our prayers.
We put down two cats within a month of one another last summer. I was upset but the wife was absolutely distraught.
After a few weeks we got a puppy. It doesn’t make the loss go away, but it will give you a new focus and keep you busy.
Hang in there FRiend.
To better times for you and Pumpkin! (no beer necessary, yuck)
We adopted him from a woman at Petco.
I didn’t know they had animals for adoption there.
Sorry for your loss.
Do the things you love to do and you will feel his presence.
A lot of us here on FR can empathize with you. If you are not familiar with the Rainbow Bridge, please research it. Your furry family member is in a better place and will be there to see you when the time comes. Your pain will get less severe as time goes on, but don’t ever be afraid or ashamed to grieve for him.
It’s a sad reality that we will outlive most of our pets. The end choice can come so fast you feel bad about not having more time, and that’s the key, do try to always give them that quality time while you can. My newest cat gets all the extra attention I wished I would have showered on the previous one. I am almost content thinking I made the right decision being cats are prone to tumors and she had one in her intestine and could no longer eat. I wish the vet would have diagnosed it sooner, but there’s no going back from here, I will always be heart broken when I think of her last few days.
Thank you.
Go adopt another cat. There’s probably 3 dozen at your local shelter...
Thank you. :)
One of my sisters had one of her cats euthanized today. The kitty was rescued 8 years ago and was never quite right because she had a problem with her equilibrium and would walk in circles when she wasn't lying down. She was loved and cared for and my sister had a hard time letting her go even though she realized it was time. My sister has other cats she has rescued since then and I hope that they help get her through this.
There is a kitty waiting for you to rescue it as soon as you can.
Well,he was my buddy.
I know it’s not the same as losing along-time spouse but it still hurts.
