The Joe Paterno statue was removed Sunday morning from its pedestal outside Beaver Stadium, and it will be stored in an unnamed "secure location," Penn State president Rodney Erickson announced. Erickson also said the Paterno name will remain on the university's library.

Shortly before dawn in State College, Pa., a work crew installed chain-link fences to barricade access to Porter Road outside Beaver Stadium and covered the fence with a blue tarp.

The work crew then removed the 7-foot, 900-pound bronze statue by forklift and placed it into the lower level of the stadium. Erickson released his highly sensitive decision to the public at 7 a.m. ET Sunday.

Workers lifted the 7-foot-tall statue off its base and used a forklift to move it into Beaver Stadium as the 100 to 150 students watched, some chanting, "We are Penn State."

The decision came 10 days after a scathing report by former FBI director Louis J. Freeh found that Paterno, with three other top Penn State administrators, had concealed allegations of child sexual abuse made against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The Freeh report concluded their motive was to shield the university and its football program from negative publicity.

It is understandable he is upset - but these public statements from Jay have done nothing to help the Paterno family.

Paterno was given credible evidence that a horrible crime had been committed against an innocent child by someone he knew. The list of actions he could have taken is extremely long. Paterno’s power and influence over the University could have been used to bring everything to a screeching halt until a thorough investigation was completed. Instead, he opted to pass it off to the next in line, and pretend he had done his duty.

Are you or Louis Freeh claiming that Joe Paterno did this???

Perhaps not the actual act of penetration, but Paterno's failure to act (which SHOULD have included being sure that Sandusky was exposed for his heinous crimes back in 1998) is why Sandusky was able to continue raping little boys.

So to answer your question with precision, Paterno may not have participated in the many rapes committed by Sandusky, but his negligence was equivalent to holding the kids down so they could be violated. All Paterno had to do was to open his mouth and tell what he knew, and he didn't.

There wasn’t just a bit of smoke swirling around the heads of Sandusky, Paterno and the rest of the maggots running Pedo State - it has been a raging forest fire for decades and they were ALL fiddling away while the lives of innocent kids were being destroyed.

Worst of ALL, is that:
(A) Sandusky is physically (somewhere in his brain) miswired and therfore he is ABNORMAL. I don’t think he consciously made the INITIAL choice, but he HAS consciously repeated the acts and cannot stop doing so. The ONLY action society can take to protect itself is to permanently incarcerate (or better yet, exterminate) such people in order to protect those living and prevent any future victims from his inherited defects.

(B) The rest of the buggers at Pedo State had one and only one reason for aiding and abetting this atrocity (and made CONSCIOUS DECISIONS to do so) - the OBSCENE amount of $$$$$ that football at all levels throws off these days. They are ALL truly accessories in conspiracy to commit, accessories to the acts and accessories after the fact. They ALL belong in jail and should ALL be held financially responsible AND the football program should FOREVER be banned at PEDO STATE.

More to the point, there needs to be a nationwide investigation of every single such program, because y’all know damn well, that just like the Catholic Priests, Sandusky ain’t the one and only one that has been and still is doing this nasty, nasty stuff.

Anyone promoting such fiction is guilty of aiding and abetting the ongoing perpetration of these horiffic crimes against these young defenseless victims.

Rush to judgment means only waiting until convictions come down from the courts, and subsequent fact finding investigations are released.
