Opus: The End
07/12/2012 | nhoward14

Posted on 07/12/2012 6:37:01 AM PDT by nhoward14

Here I am to say goodbye. After reading Jim's latest screeds, after translating from the original German, I have decided enough is enough. I am no longer going to associate with a site that refuses to admit Romney is the duly-elected nominee of the Republican Party. Palin is not going to descend on the convention and chop his head off.

The site has been descending into cultish behavior for years, and I still can't figure out where all the money goes each quarter.

Having been invited to leave earlier this week by Jim, I am taking up his offer. Goodbye.

And Jim, ZOT this!

As someone who regularly sticks his neck out and continues to (though by NO means defend or support Mittens) try and show how Dear Leader is more of a threat than Romney over and over, your lack of intestinal fortitude (e.g. "coward") to stay and fight does not reflect well on your "principles."

At least if I ever get "the boot," I'll know I went down doing battle for what I believe in...the Safety, Security and Longevity of that which I love more than life: our Country, the United States of America!

I beg your pardon Vendome. After reading another Opus the other day, I was under the impression they were b@tching about seeing Jim dining at an Olive Garden. (like that's any of my business) I already knew the financials were available for the Website activities.

Guess I'm just sick of the b@tching for no reason.

Yikes! Please don't put me in their category.

10+ years. One can only wonder if FR is attempting to rebrand itself like Abercrombie & Fitch did some years ago.

Sort of lame, really. I like them with a little more timbre, a little more of that spittle-throwing outrage. You'd want to start with how FR isn't the site it used to be, how it was better back in the old days when anyone could write HTML code that would whack the entire thread. I'll give you credit for the dark suspicions about FR finances, which is pretty much mandatory for an opus these days, but it needs a little sizzle, something like "I saw JimRob eating in an upscale Burger King last week and the bastard had SUPER-SIZED THE FRIES!!" - see what a little all-caps and italians can do for your screed?

I mean, it could have been an opus for the ages. I'm thinking a link to your blog would have been cool, and maybe some advertisement for, I dunno, given you're a Romney guy, maybe some underwear or something. A steady crescendo to "WELL, I'M LEAVING FOREVER AND ARE YOU GUYS EVER GONNA BE SORRY!!" Embedding some dramatic music would have been good too, like the funeral march from Lohengrin or Achy Breaky Heart. You coulda been a contender.

I’ve been here for 3 months, and lurked for years. Do I agree with everyone on here? No. Do Republicans tick me off sometimes? Yes, but that is why I am a conservative first and foremost. Political parties and candidates compromise to get elected, but core principles are the hill on which we’ve planted the flag and will fight to the death! I’m not excited about Romney, but I fear for our great nation at the very thought of four more years of Obama. To all those who leave Free Republic, believe me, I’ve looked around, and there is nowhere else where conservative values are upheld and affirmed as they are here. This is a place where I can come to and realize that there are a lot of other people who unashamedly share my conservative Christian values. Leave if you must, but don’t think that the grass is greener elsewhere.

I laughed out loud at that one..Sarah glancing, waving, planting a kiss on your cheek, after her acceptance then yikes, it's not Sarah, it's Ron Paul..and he has his weird eyebrow in tow. That would be kind of a nightmare.

No, because if they did that, they wouldn’t be able to go elsewhere and breathlessly say, “Look what I did at FR!”, and get high-fives and fist bumps and squeals of “You’re so cool!”

So true...and THIS one is already over there...."I'm fighting the urge to go look at how many posts were made in response. I've had a good day. No need to ruin it by rubbernecking a train wreck."

By trainwreck does he mean the fact that so few FReepers even know who he is? I wouldn't have, but I'm a spy on TBLosers.com and had to say, "Who the hell is THIS?".
