Clean LCD HDTV screen?

A month or so ago, I bought my first HDTV, a 47" Vizio LCD.

What are the best, safest ways to clean the screen?

BTW, this Vizio is boss. No setup required and the picture is perfect.

I bought a 55” vizio last year, and I damn well consulted the manual for cleaning instructions.

you pay that much for a piece of equipment, and you are going to leave the maintenance part to us? that’s very brave . . . or something ;)

I just spray ours with Windex, and wipe off. Been doing it for years now. Works great. Just use clean paper towels and all will be good.

Check the owner’s manual. That info is usually in it.

I geuss I never knew that cleaning the HD screen was different than just cleaning the old regular tv I used to have.

For my computer screens I use 70 percent rubbing alcohol, and then some stuff called Ultra. The Ultra is a cleaner and anti static. Spray it on, and wipe it off with a soft cloth. I usually use a soft paper towel.

I just use a damp cloth (damp being the keyword not dripping wet ;D ), finish off with a dry one, cotton or microfiber of course so you don’t scratch.

Don’t have a big screen TV since I don’t watch that much, but do have nice monitors that I clean this way.

You want to be gentle, so instead of using a scrubbing brush, use a tooth brush. Spitting on it gives it a nice shine. ;)

I hope you don’t listen to any of these jokers and damage your precious TV. Here’s the formula I’ve used for years.

1 part white carpenter’s glue (YES!);
5-7 parts apple cider vinegar,
2 parts olive oil,
1 1/2 parts vodka.

Works like a charm!

Alcohol is a solvent. It also will streak and leave a residue. It’s very harsh on that membrane that covers the screen.
