A blast from the past ... a few photos from the 1920s - 1930s when ladies in their swimsuits would have to pass police inpsection or face arrest.
The times have certainly changed.

We have a lesbian mayor in Houston now and laws against wearing thongs in strip joints (and a new strip joint tax). Gay pride parade is permitted where an annual blockparty concert is no longer tolerated because of noise and public drinking.
Laws can be perverse regardless of the decade or century.

These are just too funny. I had forgotten about those awful bathing caps we wore when I was a teenager. But we didn’t have blow dryers back then and only had our hair done once a week so the caps did serve a useful purpose.
The only inspection we ever had was by our mother. Fathers of everyone I knew never commented about their daughter’s attire. Way too personal an issue. Girls had separate swimming times from the guys at our public pool until I was about 16 or so so it really didn’t matter much and it’s not like there were other styles available.

Bill Norton? Hell no! That’s Ed Norton moonlighting from his
sewer job. Or maybe it’s LBJ.

The times have certainly changed.Indeed. Look at the police in the top photo. Today those girls would probably be screamed at and manhandled by shaven headed louts.
