Herd it was due to the pre nup. After 10 years of being married the pre nup expires and the partner can get half of everything. He has ended his previous marriages just prior to the ten year deadline.
I think it partly had to do with the age of Suri. She can be security checked now. Katie Holmes might have also balked at Suri being part of the Sea Org.
